Default Motorola Support Cancelation Matrix - Sept. 2012

Big list. Even the 4M XTS2500 is EOS at the end of this year.

That is a BIG list, I see the KVL3000 PLUS is on there too!

Brings up a quandary for the forum rules as there are a lot of ASTRO 25 radios that will no longer be supported (the beginning of the end of an era), and a lot of ASTRO 25 gear that will still be supported, how do we separate what's allowed and what isn't?

Probably with the cautious side as they are still selling 5k's and 2500's.

Sad seeing the KVL3K+ nearing EOS, considering they don't even have a working/stable replacement for it yet. The 4000 is a total POS. I wouldn't want or use one, even if it were a freebie.

Would have been a shorter list if they just said what they will support

So they're cancelling the "Call Box"? Good, maybe now it won't show up as an accessory for damn near everything in MOL.

What I did note, is that this document nearly reads as a complete list of everything Motorola has ever made back to a certain date, and of course, within a certain business sector.

Eh? Thought this was an NYPD only radio?

Maybe there's a special Batboard whacker edition?

But seriously, maybe Moto means the "generic" SSE5000, without the NYPD customizations? I know the NYPD cases are pre-engraved at factory.

I think engraving is a SP number, also since NYPD has to give back their 470 channels in 9 or so years, I guess Motorola figures it's a good time to cancel the radio they use. Just means they will buy more Vertex? Probably not, since the Transit division is going over to the APX's

Though you can buy a lot of VX-537's for the price of any APX...

I agree, but the salesman that lost that bid to Vertex years ago is probably working in Siberia still. LOL A very embarasing moment for mother M, they thought they could bully NYPD into buying all new equipment, I guess it didn't work out like they planned.

I was under the impression you could no longer quote 5000s or 2500s. Is this incorrect?

They are still in Ecat. I'm no salesman but I know they are pushing the APX line but don't believe that they have cancelled the astro25 series yet.

This is my first post here, been lurking for a while but thought I would put my three cents worth in. I received a promotion flyer from our Moto salesman two weeks ago on astro25 stuff and APX portables offering, if I remember correctly, up to $400 off depending on what model you buy. I believe it ends at the end of November. Maybe it's their way of trying to clean out inventory before they announce a cancellation.

Here's an updated cancellation matrix just released 11/12/12 version 4, and also the Troubled Parts and Accessories list.
