    Hi!

Does anyone have v1.07 firmware for R2600B?

    Regards, trbofan.

I have the firmware backed up for a 494KTQXXXX version ...not sure that's what you need ...maybe 1.06.
It did have the TG option but that may be controlled in the internal processor flags and not in the firmware

Will take a look at the files and see if I tagged them with the version.

Would be interested in getting a later version as well

Thanks for reply! My device also has v1.06, I upgraded firmware from v1.01 (very old). Now I have enabled Traking Gen, Enhanced spectrum analyzer with markers and graphics printout. Additionaly I have backed up all memories, including 93c46 which hold data about configuration, self calibration and enabled options. What options You have enabled? I am looking for v1.07 firmware which was the final release for R2600B.

I have the first model of the R2600, pre A. I have V1.07, but don`t have tracking generator, enhanced spectrum analyzer. I have contacted General Dynamics about up grade and was told that they do not support this model. Would your firmware work in my R2600 and add these features?

I have a question too - I have a 2670 (original A version) that has VSLOP in it. Is it possible to upgrade it to do APCO P-25? Anyone know what's required and/or cost?

It sounds like the firmware maybe common in the early 2600 /2550 series and the options enabled ( filters and tracking ) are controlled by a field in the 93C36 EEPROM.

The 2670 would more than likely have its own firmware version and chances are it would take a hardware upgrade to get from VSLEP to IMBE / P25 but without looking at a full service manual I am just guessing.

It would be nice to know the EEPROM MAP so that Processor boards could be replaced without loosing features.

If you have one of these it sounds like backing up the firmware and EE would always be a good idea.

In my R2600B I have enabled track gen, graphics printout and enhanced spectrum analyzer/markers. Available also are (but disabled): Cable Fault, C-msg filter/600ohm dvm input, ccitt filter and phase demod. Before upgrade, all disabled options (except phase demod) were enabled. I can post 93c46 image, maybe someone will know how to enable disabled options?

Files are in attachment. There are two versions, v101 from old firmware and v106 from newer one. I figured out what bytes are probably responsible for options, but changing them gives only no options installed. It looks like that some CRC needs to be changed, maybe someone will know what to do. These bytes are under 25h and 29h.

I will try this again. I don`t know what the exact model my R2600 is. It doesn`t have a tag and I can`t find it on any screen. It was a Motorola salesmans demo I purchases in 1990. It only shows graphics printout option. It had the cellular AMPS option which I removed when it became obsolete. Does anyone know if the tracking generator and enhanced spectrum analyzer options are simply firmware upgrades, or do they require a circuit board install like the AMPS option did.

    Thanks

Tracking generator should be only software upgrade. What software version do You have? I had v101 and tracking gen was available. You can try to replace eproms with different software and see what happens. If You want, I can upload eprom files here with v106 software.

There are 4 EEPROMs NEC 27C1001A all v1.07. I would love to try a upgrade.

Bin`s with software v1.06 for R2600B are attached. Burn new eproms with that software and test Your device. If it will boot, check if everything works properly and see what options are available.

Thanks. I will try the files as soon as I get new EEPROMS in. I don't want to risk the originals. Wouldn't want the R2600 to go brain dead.

I installed the new eproms with the above files. No joy. For options it shows: tracking generator not installed
    cable fault not installed
    c-msg filter not installed
    ccitt filter not installed
    phase demod not installed
    graphics printout installed
    enhanced spectrum not installed
    analyzer/markers
    Any ideas what is wrong?

    Thanks

Gratulations! Is everything working fine? Have You reprogrammed 93c46 eeprom? I posted bin file in a #12 post. Before programming, save old dump to a file and post it here! Maybe someone will help with unlocking other features?

where is U43. It is not on the board with the other 4. OK I think i found the 9346 on the circuit board, I was looking for something bigger. How do you read/write to it?

Desoldering it isn`t a problem, I have a hot air desolderer. What kind of programmer do you use. All three of mine use ziff sockets and none have a listing for the st93c46.

You need to put it into adapter. I use universal programmer and SO8<=>DIL adapter for small SPI memories.

Thanks for your help and info. The adapter would be no problem, but I wasn`t wanting to purchase another prom burner. So far I have not been able to find software for my programmers which include the 93c46.

What programmer are You using? You can also build simple programmer and connect it into com port or lpt, here You can find solution: http://hw-server.com/serial-eeprom-programmer it`s very easy and it should help.
