Default Anyone using APX mobile for motorcycle units?

Any recommendations on a unit for motorcycles (PD traffic unit). Is the O5 head waterproof ?

    Thanks

We use the XTL5000 O5 on bikes ... these are not much different to the APX only the body a bit longer and has GPS antenna port.
And our location has a heavy wet season ...

FWIW the cops around here use standard O3's/W3's on their Kawasaki 1400GTRs. They have the head mounted well up inside the fairing, and it stays quite dry. The officers just leave the HHCH sitting there and only touch it to change channels, and use their headsets for audio.

Hi Syntx .. do you cops have the mic and speaker in the helmet .. as ours do .. we use to use an audio interface box (mic and speaker) to deliver audio to helmet via cable... just curious how others do it

Yep, they use full face helmets with speakers and mic inside and a handlebar PTT, with some sort of interface box hooked up to the mobile radio. When they're off the bike they use portables instead (their patrol area is all in the city and well covered by their UHF network.)
