    Default 3000 M1 weird problem

got a 800 3k M1 in on a trade... Using the no affilate method, The radio 'reboots' "light green - no audio for a few seconds" after the end of every voice transmission. Has anyone experienced this before?

Thread moved to ASTRO forum, as you have a 3000.

What host/DSP firmware combo are you running? Is the system 3600 or 9600? Did the radio work before, or is this a newly-acquired radio?

Check the battery, the radio may be trying to affiliate on the return to the control channel. The low battery will cause the radio to cycle as described.

Yes. Any XTS5000 battery is also compatible with the 3000. There's some decent lithium ion IMPRES products from Motorola. I use them, and they're highly recommended.

NTN9862C: 2700mah lithium ion IMPRES. Lasts a day or two for me. (kind of a slim battery -- but there's a lower-capacity battery which is even slimmer!)
NNTN6034A: 4200mah lithium ion IMPRES. Lasts about 2-4 days, depending on use. It's insane. (Fatter)

The lithium ion batteries are also lightweight, compared to the Ni-Cad or Ni-MH batteries.

I've used both of these batteries outdoors in the Canadian winter. I remember being at a standoff (as a media guy) in -35 C temperature, for about 3 hours. My radio did not die. Some welfare brands of batteries do not hold up in the cold like these do.

That video should come with an advisory note for epileptics...

I don't know whether to call that the special Halloween edition of the XTS3000 or the Christmas special featuring festive red and green blinking lights!

I had a 3k fail in the middle of a firmware upgrade once. It did exactly the same thing with the channel knob back light. After about 72 attempts to re flash the firmware, it eventually took the upgrade and all was well. Never did trust that radio after that.

If you want to send it to me I can see if I can revive it.
