Default APX Video RSM - seen at IACP 2012

While I have not seen this personally, a friend has seen an APX7000 streaming video to another APX7000 viewable on the model 3.5 back display. Video Mic show below.

Interesting, haven't seen anything in any firmware notes about support for streaming video?

I wonder how much this RSM will cost? The current Display RSM is already $300+ so I'd expect these to be probably twice that!

Obviously the video must also be displayed (and recorded) on a console on the same channel/talkgroup?

I could see LEA's loving this idea... except that you'd only get close-ups of the user's left earlobe most of the time!

The OMAP1710 (the APX processor) has built in support for cameras and the pins are brought out to the expansion board. I would have thought it would be for still images but this is cool from a tech standpoint.

You're not going to get great video at ~6000bps, and long data sessions will smash the battery hard. Low res stills to see what's going on when someone hits the orange button might be useful though.

If anyone is interested in what sort of potential capabilities the APX could have, here is some bedtime reading on the OMAP1710 processor that's inside the thing:
