    My mistake. Sorry.

It would most likely require decompiling the firmware, looking for routines that use the one-wire interface on the cpu and then reversing the jump for the FPP routine so it worked when no RED battery was installed. Out of curiosity does anyone have a modded unit in hand and if so does it lose FPP when a red battery is installed?

My guess is the edit is a compare or check boolean. Most of this type of edit will work backwards is the condition is suddenly met.

I feel confident that once the edit is located (and it will be) that with the people here we will be able to bring it up to date on later firmware builds. This is providing that the FPP code is still active in later firmwares. If someone has a red battery and a unit with firmware later than 5.14.00 maybe they can confirm that FPP still functions with a red battery.

    All,

If anyone here has a modded radio, please report the firmware version, the codeplug version, the CPS version that you use (including region such as AA or FD), and tell us whether you have upgraded the firmware since modding the radio. Thank you.

Had some spare time, stayed up late and refreshed with the latest and last firmware update as of 2014. The FPP Red battery still worked for keypad editing.Click image for larger version.

RC: Does your FPP work without the Red Battery installed, with the latest firmware?

Your radio would be a good candidate for brain surgery, once we get things figured out -- very soon.

Radio Crazy. Thanks for taking the plunge. This tells us that the same edit for 5.14.00 will carry over to the latest firmware.

I believe that RC just said that he has to use the red battery.

While OT, this thread is what I missed about CS. Really smart people collaborating, and sharing knowledge. I may have to buy one of these radios. FPP in a solid portable. Plus I have an IMPRES charger and a bunch of batteries for this series(used with an issued HT-750)

FYI reflashed and moved the firm down to R05.14.00, still no joy!

yes that is understood that for the v5.18.01 firmware the red battery is needed. I was referring to the fact that since FPP works with the last firmware release whatever edit is done on the 5.14.00 should be able to be duplicated in the 5.18.01. Sorry my post was not clear on that.

I have always wondered about a mod for the FPP on the 1550. I just dusted mine off and put a fresh battery on it just to try out the mod when it's figured out.

Hi guys. Things are in the mail. Dont worry, not an abandoned project, just delayed because of shipping times.

Like all good things patience is a virtue. may do not realize how much team work goes into making some of these edits available for the membership.
