Had some spare time, stayed up late and refreshed with the latest and last firmware update as of 2014. The FPP Red battery still worked for keypad editing.Click image for larger version.

RC: Does your FPP work without the Red Battery installed, with the latest firmware?

Negative, no red battery, no admission to edit menu.

Radio Crazy. Thanks for taking the plunge. This tells us that the same edit for 5.14.00 will carry over to the latest firmware.

I believe that RC just said that he has to use the red battery.

While OT, this thread is what I missed about CS. Really smart people collaborating, and sharing knowledge. I may have to buy one of these radios. FPP in a solid portable. Plus I have an IMPRES charger and a bunch of batteries for this series(used with an issued HT-750)

FYI reflashed and moved the firm down to R05.14.00, still no joy!

yes that is understood that for the v5.18.01 firmware the red battery is needed. I was referring to the fact that since FPP works with the last firmware release whatever edit is done on the 5.14.00 should be able to be duplicated in the 5.18.01. Sorry my post was not clear on that.

I have always wondered about a mod for the FPP on the 1550. I just dusted mine off and put a fresh battery on it just to try out the mod when it's figured out.

Like all good things patience is a virtue. may do not realize how much team work goes into making some of these edits available for the membership.

Here you go. FPP for the HT1550 is done. Firmware R5.18.01, latest, final build.

You'll need to use a flash cable/switch thing and the modified firmware flasher software. You can get that, here: http://wiki.w9cr.net/index.php/Waris

Decompress this .rar file and flash away! It's confirmed working.

All, make sure that you save your tuning data before you flash, just in case.

Shame M only made HT1250LS+s for 220... this would be a killer mod to have for that band.

Ok lady's and gents, the last and final firmware refresh revision has been included for FPP with out that very expensive red battery or the very expensive piggy mod, once again my hats off to the sharpies that can do this, as opposed to dopes like me, enjoy.
AND BTW this mod was never offered in the last final revision anywhere by anyone, it was always that sad R05.14.00 disgrace.

Our club 220 radio is a 1250LS and we just programmed in every repeater offset available. I don't ever use it so I don't remember if the 1250 supports MPL as well but if it did you basically have a VFO and tone options for every 220 split.

The HT1250LS only allowed 16 conventional frequencies. The LS and LS+ were more geared towards Passport and LTR systems.

It's possible they modified a VHF HT1250 codeplug for 220 MHz and jammed that in... that would have worked fine since the TANAPAs are compatible between LS and non-LS radios. HT1250 to HT1550 is... less so.

It's also more likely that they used W9CR's Waris.py file for CHIRP to edit the bandsplit and increase the channels.

Hex editing and jamming in a modified s-record is in the past now...
