Default Icom F50V MM Firmware Question

Anyone familiar with these radios? I'm looking for info on firmware upgrades but have turned up squat so far. As these only upgradable by sending them to a dealer or is there a do it yourself option?

    Thanks!

Icom LMR radios developed before 2008 (or something) doesn't support FW upgrades at all! It's unbelievable, but true. I was able to upgrade only F3160/F5060 series and above. Fx/Fxx radios are not field upgradable AFAIK.

The Icom IC50V radios are up-gradable. The upgrade package is FL3060A and the latest version I've seen is version 3.6.2.

    Hi,

There is dedicated F8101 upgradekit (FlashWriter), current version is 4.08 (2017).

Are you sure that relates to the IC-F50 radios? The Release notes don't seem to mention a radio model. The text at the tops says:

"Use with Cloning Software v2.0, for models 33, 43, 53 (FCC approved) and 31, 41, 51, (non-FCC). Other models use Cloning Software v1.1."

The software I'm using is already at verson 3.x or 3.x.x

3.6.2 is definitely the latest for the F50 series radios, which unfortunately forces narrow band across the board.

You can downgrade to 3.6.1 which has the same feature set and still allows wide channel spacing.
