Default Looking for someone with a APX and a WPLN6905 serial cable to do a test for me.

As the title says I'm looking for someone with a APX and a WPLN6905 serial cable to do a test for me. The serial cable is used to connect the apx to the kvl4000 for radio authentication. A null modem adapter, a gender bender and a pc with a serial port will be required as well, but it's a real simple test.

PM me if you have this stuff and are willing to lend a hand.

I thought about purchasing the serial cable to see if an APX could be used as an RF Modem for Tactical OTAR but they are too damn expensive, which is no doubt the reason behind your query?

Nope, I'm looking for direct serial communication with the OMAP.

Sorry, I meant the reason behind your query was that they are so expensive and you really need to know that this cable will do what you need before spending so much money?

Apologies for the mis-understanding! (At least it 'bumped' the thread)

I suppose using a xtl serial gcai or a xtl serial cable to the rear 26 pin port would not get the same result?

It might, except the WPLN6905 cable is for a portable so I assume that's what Magnus is after?

Yeah sorry for the confusion, yeah if it does what I need I will order one, but other than an experiment I have no use for one, lol.

I have both. Are you expected this to be version specific? With firmware 8.07.00 I get nothing. I'll play around with the port settings.

What I would specifically be looking for is anything spit out by the radio during boot. Also you may need a null modem adapter inline.

The only thing I see being spit out through serial is 0x00h once right after the ROS starts, and occasionally after that. It does respond to carriage returns with ERROR in a terminal window. No null-modem required.

I didn't get the '0x00h', but I do get the ERROR reply.

Thanks for that. That may be enough for me to invest in this cable.
