    Default XLP6F Pulled?

Did XLP6F get pulled for some reason? My subscription says "call software services" instead of the usual download link... Curiosity...

Firmware updates once a month recently. Ugh

And XLP6E is put back in its place.

    Something must've been busted.

This was passed on to me from a friend in the biz...

TR173032: XL-series radios w/R06F06 will, intermittently, not start the
LID Registration process on Harris P25T systems.

TR172830: XG-series radios w/R06F06 will not start the LID Registration
    process on Motorola P25T systems.

TR172974: XL-series radios w/R06F06 - Can no longer PTT on selected TG
while scanning TG's within a group set inside of a ZONE.

    Good info, thanks!

I just upgraded my XG-100P with Phase II, DES/AES, and ARC4 and bought a new KVL cable. XLPR06F06 was provided as part of the process. Radio doesn't go into keyfill mode when the cable is connected so I didnt know if that had anything to do with it. Going back and forth with the dealer/TAC now to try and resolve it.

Looks like its out for all the current radios now....

    From the G03 SRN:

The following issues were resolved with this release:

    Code:
    REFERENCE NUMBER DESCRIPTION
PROD00172830 XG-series radios with R06F06 will not start the LID Registration process on Motorola P25T system. Works with XLP R6E and earlier firmware.
PROD00172953 XL-200P with R06F06 - No PTT from attached speaker mic when "COVERTPD" User Profile is activated. PTT from radio still works. XLP R06E works.
PROD00172974 XL-200P with R06F06 - Can no longer PTT on selected talkgroup while scanning talkgroups within a group set inside of a ZONE. This issue does not occur withR06E06.
PROD00173032 XL-series radios with R06F06 will not intermittently start the LID Registration process on Harris P25T system.Works with XLP R6E and earlier code.
PROD00171828 XL-200P with R06E06 will intermittently not register/log into P25 Cassidian/Tait P25T system; radio acquires an IDEN table with "TDMA 4-slot".

RPM7B and XLP7B came out today.

What's the over/under on how long this stays up?

Lol no kidding..... XLP7B is just for the XL-200 so far I believe. XG series is still at R06G03.

We waited for 6f to get inter region individual call from keypad. Found put the hard way it broke registration on Motorola P25 systems. Luckily we weren't that far into the touch before we discovered it and then got 6G. In the 13 months that our SR10A.3 system has been on the air, we have had to load new code into our 2200 Harris subscribers 5 times due to code bugs. If not for the fact that I need OTAP and the only way that I have found to get UKEK and LLAK keys into a Motorola subscriber is to hand type the raw key into the KVL, I would be starting to migrate all subscribers to APX. Harris is making ok radios still but there is ZERO quality control from the software folks.

I wish Harris would have wiped out the MA/COM folks in Lynchburg and used the RFTAC (military) folks run the PSPC projects. Everything from customer design requirements through quality control. It would have challenged Motorola to be more competitive. Instead, Motorola sat back and Harris PSPC went down the road of "hurry up and get the product out there" causing several critical failures both with their systems and subscribers. XLP5A comes to mind as another one that lasted only 2 weeks before getting pulled back.

Now that Harris' PSPC reputation is suffering, I view it as a missed opportunity for the industry.

Does R06G03 require the use of RPM2 or will RPM 14C still work?

14C still works. I'm running it in an XG-75P and M7300.

Had my XG-75 with me on the road today in the range of several systems that I've monitored in the past (passively, not affiliating). For some reason all I could get on these systems was CC SCAN (yet systems in my home area would work fine). After pulling out what was left of my hair I noticed this radio was still at R06F06... Didn't think that would affect a non-affiliating setup but as a last resort I bumped it up to R06G03. Bingo, problem solved! So definitely stay away from R06F06!
