    Default CDM1550LS+

Folks, MOL gives me the impression I need to buy a $350+ software license in order to program two CDM1550LS+. ( I have access to MOL)

Am I correct that this is the only way? Am I correct that standard CPS doesnt work? (For which I have an official license)

I am planning to use them as a portable repeater set so just need to set either to their frequency once.

    Thoughts?

PS "Yes, that's the software you need" ... Is an acceptable answer. Just want to be sure I've got it correct. Tnx!

Professional CPS should be able to read both. It's been awhile but I don't recall using two different versions for the 1550s.

Correct me if Im wrong, but doesnt the 1550 LS support Passport/LTR Trunking? In which case a separate Passport CPS would be required for programming the trunking portion.

The Professional CPS will read/program the CDM1550LS+ either as a conventional system or with LTR (we still run a LTR system). I can't comment on Passport.

I believe the part# is HVN9025 and is around $275US

That would be correct if the radio had the passport option board and he planned to use them on Passport.

If not it will just be the Professional series CPS.

It does however I was hoping to set it up on one conventional channel.
I was hoping to avoid the expense but might have guess wrong.

    Item Number. HVN9025AB

    CPS R06.12.08 HT/CDM/EX
    Unit of Measure: 1 EA
    $272.00

Why didn't you try reading the radios with your "standard" CPS (for which you have a license)? This forum is big on experimenting.

Working on that. Agree. Trust me, before shelling out the $'s I'll have tried every other (legitimate) path. Currently trying to get my laptop to recognize the specific cable. While it's from fleabay it's from a reputable (read not Chinese and not cheap) seller. So far I've tried v5 and v7 of the driver. From CPS 14 and 16 respectively. I'll keep the forum uptodate on the antics.

PS...FWIW the exact model is AAM25RKF9DP5AN

What do you mean CPS 14 and 16? Astro25 CPS? APX CPS? Those CPS versions are not for the CDM.

Are you trying to use TRBO CPS on a Professional series radio? The Professional CPS never went as high as 6.12.08.

Number 6 has posted the information for the proper CPS you should be using.

    Use R06.12.05. Two advantages:

    - Doesnt have narrowband restriction

    - Compatible with R06.12.09 (final version) codeplugs. This means you can read and write to radios with .05, that have been touched with .09.
