    Default TK-290 first availability?

What year was the TK-290 first sold? Is it still a currently available radio from Kenwood? (or is it just surplus stock at dealers?)

Everything I'm seeing indicated around 2000/2001 timeframe.

And who are these guys on the front page? Beverly Hills Cops?

I know the TK280/380 was available in 98. Could've sworn they were released simultaneously.

We were running VHF 290s in '95 & '96, bombproof radios which doubled as striking tools and weapons.

They look like movie-version LAPD based on the Traffic Bureau patches (and poorly-recreated badges), but they are definitely standing in front of Pasadena (CA) City Hall which played Beverly Hills PD HQ in those movies.
