As the title says, we use Comsonics QAM sniffers to track cable leaks. Iím trying to figure out what the model of the PCTEL antenna is. Iíve looked online and in the comsonics material and cannot find any info.

I’m guessing a VHF 1/4wave with something home made added.

I saw something similar years ago. I believe it is UHF. The lower rod feeds up to the top of the larger cylinder which acts like a discone type antenna with a vertical radiator (effectively making it a elevated feed discone). I think years ago radio shack made something similar as a 'back of the set' scanner antenna.

Going by the Comsonics sheet it goes up to 612Mhz. I’ll see if we have any old spares at the office and tear one apart. Looks to be a special build from PCTEL for Comsonics.

According to the information on the units

The antenna would be picking up a marker carrier from the injection unit at the head-end of the system

The frequencies their injection transmits a carrier on include 136/139 - 612 - 744 MHz. So a dual band VHF/580-800 MHz antenna would fit the bill

Would lean them toward these from first review
