Angry question on xtl mobile radio

I got a buddy who has an xtl mobile S split, and he has 2 issues with the radio.
First he can read the radio but is not allowed to write to it because he does not have the ASK.
Is there a work around for this? i told him to dump the trunking channels and that should do it, but he can not, which brings us to our second problem
You can read, you can edit, but you can not dump.
is that tied in to the ASK that the cps is asking for?
To get that done would be nice, and maybe even bring it down into ham would be even better.
    IDEAS?

I moved your thread to the correct forum, as the XTL is a Astro25 radio not a astro.

As far as your ASK issue check this tool out.

Deleting the trunking "channels" won't effect the ASK restriction at all

What do you mean by "dump"?

what i mean by dump, is just to send the file back to the radio. most of the guys in the city call it dump when we send the file back to the radio.
so removing the trunking channels wont affect the ASK, so how do i gain access to the radio?

And then realize that you're monkeying around with an issued radio... what happens when a tech plugs into it and discovers that you've been poking around in it, making changes? Make sure you've considered that before proceeding...

i am a little lost, he only wants to have read/write access. the radio belongs to a private party, not a agency or anything like that. so i that eliminates anyone asking questions about the validity of a codeplug.
Nothing with tuning or crazy things, just want to be able to use the radio, right now it is a paperweight.

You've already been given a link to directions how to remove the ASK limitation. What else do you need? If its a private radio why was it hit with an ASK anyway?

There is also threads on here how to get your radio down into the 440 ham band. Just look around here a little, it's all here.
