    Default APX Portable programming locked

I know this is a long shot, but figured I'd at least ask...

One of our APX portables was 'programmed' (or mis-programmed, depending on your point of view) by another agency, and they used their advanced system key to do it. This means we can't alter any of the radio's programming, even though we have an ASK for our own system.

Is there any way to just wipe the existing system key from the radio, short of physically desoldering the EEPROM and breaking out the hex editor? I'd prefer to avoid going to that level, as I haven't got my assembly microscope or hot-air pencil just yet.

    Thanks much.

I would make a call to the other Agency or Motorola! Sounds like the other agency used an ASK with write protect enabled.

I agree. They need to make you a child key with their system on it for keeps.

40 bucks to send it back to Moto to have it re-flashed is what I have been told. Sounds to cheap for Moto.
