Default Thales PRC-148 CR123 Battery Box Question

I was looking to find information on whether the PRC-148 CR123 Battery Box can be used to hold six 16650 (3.6-3.7v) Lion rechargeable cells (one 16650 is equal in size to 2 CR123's and 6 would be equal to the 12 CR123's) and be able to safety power a radio, such as the PRC-6809.

From what I can tell, the six 16650 cells would have a voltage output of around 22v and the 12 CR123 (3v) cells would be outputting around 18v.I am unsure if such a radio could handle the 22v. By comparison, the actual PRC-148/MBITR batteries output 12.2v.

Does anyone know if there a voltage regulator in the CR123 battery box or would the radio have a voltage regulator, and could it safety handle a 22v input?

Nevermind,I goofed up on the total added voltage for the 12 CR123's.
