Jeez, you got DPW doing their own installs or something?

Got to preserve that power cord you never know when you will need it for the next install. Just think of the $$ saved by reusing the old possibly corroded power cables install after install after install.

I know most customers dont care about installs especially what they cant see. But that type of garbage is asking for a failure and in my books is placing the operator at risk for a completely avoidable radio install related failure.

We don't have any Bearcoms in the neighborhood, but there's at least one shop that I'm convinced hires all their rejected applications. Total mouth breathers. Some of the stuff they do is seriously dumb, would not be surprised at all if they did this.

Actually not, this came out of a two way shop or people they hired to do this job long before me. I get to be the bad guy bringing this up everytime I find this stuff now. The guilty shall remain nameless.

Notarola & p47 thanks for the chuckle. You definitely get it. I'm up to 6 bags like this now. I literally cut them at the bag and at least splice it back together properly then move the fuses to the tap point....there's no fuses in these trucks....

Actually what they did was take out an edacs system and put in the moto apx mobiles, literally cut the edacs flat power harness, opened the moto power cable, made the mess you see then put the power cord back in the back inside after crimping to the existing wiring in the truck, while this one had a tyrap on it, I've had them with bread ties to close the bags...

At least they keep making the same mistakes over and over. It suggests they had no mentoring or oversight.

Following the concept of what not to do - don't put a CB antenna on a UHF XPR4550.

Friday is UPS day. They take a breather every Friday morning to catch up on maintenance stuff for all the moving parts at the Portland HUB. It's the only time a lot of things are out of service. Otherwise the place runs non-stop 24 hrs a day. Their mechanics like to do everything themselves including installing the radios in the yard goats. It looked super. Nice neat wiring. Solid mounting for the radio and antenna. He even got the mini UHF put on perfectly. The only problem is he probably went to a truck stop to buy the antenna. It kinda works. The VSWR is almost passible. It was doing 30 over 15. System rssi looks decent. But, the logistics dispatchers had a hard time hearing him when he got to the far end of the lot, and he couldn't hear them very well either. A thick roof mount and quarter wave later, it was fine.
