Default BK KNG2 800MHz ...I want to monitor / scan more then 16 talkgroups

Using the BK KNG2 800MHz radio set for “receive only” for Phase II scanning of talkgroups

I understand each scanlist can only contain 16 talkgroups for a P25 Trunking Phase II system
Is there another method to MONITOR or SCAN more talkgroups on a BK KNG2 radio?
Unication allows scanning of 64 talkgroups AND ability to monitor ALL talkgroups coming off the tower
Harris XL-200P will do A heck of a lot of talkgroups (not sure exactly how many)

    Thank you!

Without dissasming the code and based on past experience. A list of 16 entries is usually a may hex value of 'F'. If only 1 byte (usually) is assigned to the list size then your stuck at 16 entries.

You must remeber that all 2way radios are designed as two way radios and that scan is a added feature for convenience. All manufactures choose a list size that allows rapid scanning of the list with the lowest chance of a missed call.

If you want to monitor a whole system you can program a talkgroup with the value of (0) then use nuisance delete. Talkgroup 0 will pass all traffic on the system.

Yes works just like a wild card. I got that info from a friend who got it direct from BK engineering.

So it's BK specific then, I was wondering. Nice info

I wonder if any other manufactures radio's work that way?

It’s very possible others work that way. Honestly it’s pretty awesome. You can just throw it in a zone if you want.

What does this have to do with promiscuous scanning?

You will have a much better time here not necroing and starting a new relevant thread for that question I do believe.
