    Default RD982 Upgrade Question

I inherited a hytera repeater and it appears it's needing an upgrade for it to use DMR. Looking for confirmation I would need to have a dealer upgrade this to work on Brandmister DMR network. I have 0 experience with this stuff so any advice is appreciated...

You need to check the Long model number on it. Its on the back and I think the CPS also reads it. It looks something like RD982-00000000-00000i-U1-0-F
If its a -AN, then its Analog only, there is internal board differences that prevent it from being upgraded to DMR.
If it isnt a -AN model, then youll need the DMR Upgrade license, which is $470ish dealer cost, and the IP Site Connect license which is round about $150 dealer cost.
I dont know if I can even get them however, with them getting their pants sued off and trying to file Bankruptcy.

Ha I'll look when I get home but if that's the case I'll get rid of it then, I have no interest in spending money on it... Thanks for the information!!

Yeap, I'd pretty much consider any Hytera product at this point "as-is". Its too bad, because they are a very solid repeater.

I googled that model number and found this guide.

I have been impressed with Hytera's quality. It is a shame to see that company fold. I will have to admit, their IPSC manual looks like a direct plagiarism of Motorola's System Planner.
