    Default DIU3000 Service Manual

THANK YOU to the member of our forum who contributed. It's a Christmas present many of us greatly appreciate! (I bet Alpha started salivating after reading the thread title)

It appears to have been PAINSTAKINGLY manually scanned in. This is a very selfless contribution.

I was thrilled to find this... only to find that it's service plan for a DSP error is to replace the DSP board... for over 2K at last check!. For those foolhardy enough to try to repair on their own, it does have schematics and parts lists. But I found that the version of the DSP board in this manual is much older than the current ones floating around -- and look nothing like it. Cue sad trumpet.

Huh. We have a ton of these manuals floating around. I should check the revision numbers.... Since I have a document scanner, its not all that difficult to do while munching snacks....

What's sadder than the DSP board price, is the fact Motorola is/was purchasing DIUs back from customers for a measly $500 in MOL credit. (Not cash). The parts alone in the DIU are worth more than this. I sold Motorola 9 DIUs in 2012. No one else wanted to buy them at the time

I always wonder why we never throw anything away. We must have a dozen lined up in storage.... I do believe we finally dumpsterized the last of the X9000s though....

I have the DSP board FCN6007D which uses DSP56002. The manual I have has DSP56001 and less RAM. I have 5 units, all with DSP2 RAM errors. Now if you have a dozen units in storage, I could sure use some DSP Cards! But the right pages of the manual might help too, should I attempt to tackle the RAM replacement! thanks

We even apparently have some brand new never put in service DIUs that I cleared with the boss that we will be getting rid of. PM me with the actual part number of the board you need, and I will pull down a pile of these and make sure they have what you need. The new ones are at the customer site, but we will be bringing them back to the office very soon.
