Default XTS5000 Leather holster real tight

This is more so for my mental comfort/curiosity but I have an OEM leather holster (NTN8381C) for my model III XTS5000 that barely fits the radio. It's the only one I have, have ever had or had any experience with but both the holster itself and the T-strap are very tight. I can get it to fit but it feels like it's going to break something. Does anyone else have the same issue? Is it supposed to be like this?

What battery are you using? It will be tight for a while over time they stretch..

I've had other Moto holsters that were very tight when new. When the MT-500s came out, (yes, I've been around that long) the T straps were almost impossible to fasten and unfasten when new

Same experience here, especially with t straps. Worse in cold weather. It can be broken in over time.

Some of the Hi-Cap Impres are a little snugger than usual. But its like a shoe.. It will break in over time.

Thanks. I know it's hard to crush an XTS but felt like something was going to snap!

We had to educate our officers to turn off their radios when inserting them into the new, not-yet-broken-in holsters. There's a real instinct to push down onto the top of the radio - and the emergency button.

Yeah, or mash any or all of the side buttons (not as bad as the emergency though)!

What I used to do from time to time was take the blatter out of a blood pressure cuff and put it inside of the holder. Id pump it up but not go buck wild and leave it sit for a day or two. Worked like a charm...

That's very clever! In addition to that they make a product called "Shoe Stretch" which softens shoe leather and allows it to expand to fit your fat feet, you might spray the case down with that and then either stick in the radio or the inflatable bladder thing and let it soften up a bit.
