    Default XTL5000 O5 - Not recognizing UCM - Error 09/10

I just got a brand new XTL5000 and it did not come with a UCM. I pulled one out of my other (non-working) XTL5000 and put it in the new radio. Do I need to do anything to get this up and running? It just shows Error 09/10 when trying to load keys or select secure. Turning off secure in CPS fixes the error, but I'd like to get DES to work if I can.

The new XTL is running R12 and is working great except for no DES. I have no idea what FW version the other broken radio was running.

This is my third attempt at trying to put together a working XTL5000 as the first two that I bought were duds, so I don't want to do anything stupid to this one and have it mess up on me too.

    Thanks!

What is the part number on the carrier board? Also make sure that the secure board itself still has the gold prongs intact. These contact the shield to indicate the board is installed.

    Carrier board number is: HLN6876B

    UCM is: NNTN5032D.

Yes, the gold contacts are still in place.

Sounds like you got the old carrier that supports W series heads only. MHLN6918B is the newer one that supports both W series and O series. Thats the one with the 3 day retention btw.

Well crap. I guess I'll just put that on the back burner for a while. I was planning on putting a W7 head on this radio, but it came with the black O5 style head and I'm really liking it, especially the zone text and the channel text being seperated.

So if I get the 6918 carrier, will it just be plug and play then, or will I need to do some flashing?

You should probably flash everything including the new control head to the most recent firmware just to be on the safe side, if you have a key to do it.

I don't have a key or an iButton to do it.
