    Default remote mount

I do believe this is on par with the forum rules as I am trying to purchase equipment to expand my existing installation, but may require steps that break forum rules. I do not know if that does such, so accept my apology if it does.

I have an XTL2500 O5 dash mount that I want to remote mount. What parts are needed for this? I have noticed a "synchronize control head with radio" function that I will probably need to use?

    Thanks

    G'day Snig,

Nothing here that breaks forum rules, this only involves sourcing the necessary hardware and installing it.

If you use the same CH from the radio it should not even require syncing, and there's definitely no special 'tools' needed.

The least expensive way to obtain some of the parts is fleabay. You will need a CHIB and flex which cpnverts the control head to the remote mount style. There are a couple of sources that can supply that, painter in china is pretty reliable. You then need a TIB and flex and a plastic piece which goes on the radio front after you remove the control head. Then a cable which is cheap from Motorola and the brackets. No programming changes after you put it together it really just works. The TIB is a bit pricey, I think it is about $160 NSO and the flex os about $19 NSO. They are the expensive parts. A CHIB runs about $40 on Ebay and the flex if around runs another $15. If you do a search on ebay for "motorola XTL" you should find them without a problem. I will pull one of our orders for part numbers when I get to the office if you need them.

This is the number I could grab quickly. Since I purchased a bunch of CHIB/Flex units from Ebay I will need to look up those parts and will post as soon as I get them.

This is the parts list. Some of these parts you may already have. The ones with an * you won't have for sure. If you price this out you will discover Ebay is a better solution for the control head board. I posted a few links to some of the parts on Ebay. They are pretty fair prices and in a couple cases below Motorola cost. This should give you everything except the transeiver power cable which I assume you have as it is the same for front or rear mount. I would jump on the CHIB and remote cable as they are both priced quite well. Good luck
