    Default SITE RULES

Before you read all of our rules, you need to understand a few basics.

THIS IS AN EXPERT-LEVEL SITE FOR COMMUNICATIONS PROFESSIONALS AND SERIOUS HOBBYISTS. THE SITE IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS OR SCANNER-HEADS.

IF YOU REQUEST, OFFER, POST, OR TRADE ANY COPYRIGHTED RSS OR CPS, YOU WILL BE BANNED. THIS INCLUDES SUPPORTED AND UNSUPPORTED SOFTWARE FROM ANY VENDOR.

IF YOU REQUEST, OFFER, POST, TRADE, OR DISCUSS LAB, DEPOT OR OTHER PROPRIETARY TOOLS, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

IF YOU REQUEST, OFFER, POST OR TRADE SYSTEM KEYS, DISCUSS HOW TO USE SYSTEM KEYS, OR DISCUSS OTHER WAYS TO ACCESS A TRUNKING SYSTEM, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

IF YOU ASK OR DISCUSS HOW TO MONITOR ENCRYPTED COMMUNICATIONS, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

IF YOU REQUEST SOFTWARE OF ANY TYPE IN YOUR FIRST POST, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

IF YOU MAKE A POST WITH EXCESSIVE SPELLING/GRAMMATICAL STUPIDITY, YOU WILL BE BANNED. THIS IS A PROFESSIONAL WEBSITE, NOT RADIO REFERENCE.

IF YOU USE THIS WEBSITE FOR ANY PURPOSE THAT A MODERATOR CONSIDERS TO VIOLATE ANY COPYRIGHT OR OTHER PROPRIETARY RIGHT, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

IF YOU GET A WARNING WHEN YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN BANNED, FEEL DAMN LUCKY THAT THE MODS DECIDED TO GIVE YOU ONE MORE CHANCE.

IF WE BAN YOU, THE BAN MAY BE TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FOLLOW THE RULES OR DON'T AGREE WITH OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE, YOU MAY NOT USE THIS SITE. PLEASE LEAVE AND NEVER COME BACK.

These are our site rules. They are intended to be read in conjunction with our TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE. There are not very many rules, but we do insist that they be followed. Here they are:

    Membership

Membership of this forum is subject to the rules set out herein and in the "Terms and Conditions of Use" as linked above, please read both carefully.

There are currently some restrictions placed on new members:

    • If you're new and your first post is a software request - YOU WILL BE BANNED. Try to participate and give a little before taking. At least say "hello" and introduce yourself
    • New Members are placed on moderation for the first five posts - you may consider this a "trial period" so post carefully. It may take several hours for posts to be approved by a Moderator. If your post does not appear, it may have been rejected. Review the Site Rules to be sure your post was in alignment with these rules.
    • New Members cannot post For Sale, Wanted to Buy or Trade ads in the "Classifieds" section. See "For Sale/Trade/Wanted to Buy Forum Rules" below for complete information.
    • Members with two or less posts cannot send nor receive Private Messages (PM's)

If your account has been inactive for greater than 60 days, and you have a 0 post count, your account will likely be purged. Career lurkers are welcome, too. Just post and say hello every once in a while. We're glad to have you here! The purpose of deleting inactive (no login, 0 posts) accounts is so we don't tie up usernames or fudge our membership numbers, like some other boards do.

Duplicate accounts, or multiple accounts per user, are not permitted. Duplicate accounts will be deleted and you will be suspended for 30 days. Repeatedly signing up for duplicate accounts will result in a permanent ban.

It will be a violation of our signature rule if any member uses a signature, byline or footer that refers to another member of this forum, refers to a member of another forum, contains personal details, FOR-PROFIT ADVERTISING images/links without permission of a moderator, or contains inappropriate content.

Please make an effort to contribute to the forum, even if you're still learning the ropes; asking intelligent questions would be considered a contribution, asking for hand-outs would NOT be so considered.

    Infractions & Bans

Members of this forum may be issued with "Infractions" based on a points system, different infractions attract a differing number of points as set out below:

    1 Point:

    • Hijacking a thread
    • Inappropriate language
    • Insulting other members
    • Signature rule violation

    2 Points:

    • Trolling

    3 Points:

    • Abusing Classified forum
    • Miscellaneous Terms of Use violation
    • Repeated posting to improper forum

5 Points and AUTOMATIC ten day ban:

    • Requesting, offering, posting, or trading currently supported CPS
    • Requesting, offering, posting, trading or discussing LAB, Depot, or other proprietary software or tools
    • Requesting, offering, posting or trading system keys, discussing how to use system keys, or discussing other ways to access a trunking system
    • Using this website for any purpose that a Moderator considers to violate any copyright or proprietary right

Please Note: The above violations not only apply to your posts, but also apply to contacting a member via PM or email; any member who receives such a request is encouraged to report the action to a forum Administrator or Moderator, the matter will then be dealt with as though the request was made publicly.

Infractions issued will remain current for ten (10) days; if any member accumulates five (5) or more points in any ten day period an AUTOMATIC ten day ban will be enforced.

Permanent membership bans may also be enforced for more serious offenses or repeat offenders at the discretion of the Administration and Moderation team.

    Posts

Please post all questions you may have on the forum. This is the best place for them, and you will receive the fastest answer/support by posting your questions to the community.

If you choose to contribute information to the forum, please only post valid, factual information. If you can't back up what you're saying (AES-1056 anyone?) then don't post it. We value ALL contributions here, but the goal of this website is to be as accurate and factual as possible. If we make a mistake or publish inaccurate information, it will be identified and corrected. If you think someone is posting BS, feel free to ask them publicly to substantiate their claims. Likewise, don't be offended if you are asked to prove or elaborate on something you post. There is always someone who knows more about something than you do, so try to have an open mind and accept corrections gracefully. It's by this process we all learn.

Sending Admins or Mods PMs and emails, asking a question which should be posted on the forum, is not only selfish (others do not benefit from the reply), but it's also time-consuming and quite silly. PMs and emails are always welcome on the topic of personal issues, items for sale, or the sharing of contact information, which does not belong in a public posting.

The purpose of this forum is just that: A FORUM. This is where questions belong.

PLEASE choose where you create your new thread carefully. Admins and Mods are constantly having to move posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the sub-forum they are created within, so please take the time to browse and determine if there may be a more suitable location for your thread; it makes it so much easier for others to locate information in the future. We also encourage members to help us organize the forum better; if you see a post or thread you feel should be merged/moved to another thread/forum, let us know and we will fix it up.

And please, no typing like a retard using shorthand "text message" style grammar. Example:

"do u am got teh cps for dl ktx?"

"lol me 2. i hax dos brb cops r at the dor"

That **** is annoying, is not tolerated here, and will be grounds for being banned. The usual forum acronyms like BTW (by the way), IIRC (if I recall correctly), FYI (for your information) etc. are however acceptable.

Use of excessive smileys, colored text and large fonts is immature and gets tiresome fast. They are available for emphasis and expression as needed, but please keep their use to a reasonable minimum.

Finally, please do NOT delete information which you've already posted; this practice is heavily frowned upon and can destroy the continuity of a thread making it all but impossible for future readers to follow a conversation. If you need to make a correction, you may do so by first identifying where the error was made and adding the correct information. Everyone makes a mistake every now and then, it's how we learn, and seeing your mistake may save someone else from making the same mistake.

Attachment file sizes are limited to 4 MB. Any desired attachments or files exceeding these limitations must be hosted elsewhere.

For Sale/Trade/Wanted to Buy Forum Rules

In order to make things easier for users wishing to participate in the classified forums and to prevent fraud, there are a few simple rules that must be explained.

    1. First and foremost, the forum management is not responsible for any monetary loss that may occur when dealing with fraudulent sellers or buyers. If Forum Administrators and/or Moderators become aware of a less-than-honest user, they will do their best to help resolve the issue.

    2. This website is primarily for hobbyists and professionals to share technical information, and, while we allow sales of equipment to take place, we do not permit members to engage in commercial sales. Please contact a Forum Administrator if you require clarification.

    3. Any buyer/seller with an outstanding complaint against them will have their privileges suspended until the issue is resolved. It is ultimately the complainant's responsibility to seek restitution.

    4. Sharing of forum user accounts is not permitted.

    5. A thread prefix is required to post in this forum.

    6. Anything over $100 is required to have a picture of the actual item being sold. This includes items which are posted For Trade where the value of the item you are trading is $100 or more. The photo must include a piece of paper with your Communications Support / p25.ca username and the current date in the picture. Photoshopping your username in is not acceptable. A post that contains only a link to an auction site or to some other site will not comply with these rules and the post will be deleted.

    7. Acting as a proxy (selling items for someone else) is prohibited. You must be the legal owner and be in possession of the item being sold. You may not post links to off-site auctions unless you are the seller.

    8. Your post count must be at least 25 in order to post a new classified thread. This is because using the forum is a privilege that is limited to established users.

    9. Threads inactive for > 90 days are pruned from the forum. If your ad is still valid, bump it prior to the 90 day cutoff.

    10. You are not able to edit threads after you post them. This is to prevent people from drastically changing the context of the post for fraudulent reasons. If you need to edit your post, you must reply to the thread.

    11. Allow at least 24 hours to pass before bumping threads. Please do not bump threads daily or excessively.

    12. If your item is sold, please lock your thread. Forum provisioning allows the original poster to lock their thread. This will stop people from asking you if it is still available when you sold it weeks ago.

    System Keys

We are not going to teach you how to access a trunked system. If you already know how, please keep it to yourself. If you want to discuss "no-affiliate scanning" that's not a problem. However, we do not permit requesting, posting, offering or discussing system keys or how to access a trunked system.

IF YOU REQUEST, OFFER, POST OR TRADE SYSTEM KEYS, DISCUSS HOW TO USE SYSTEM KEYS, OR DISCUSS OTHER WAYS TO ACCESS A TRUNKING SYSTEM, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

    Software

Basically anything which was not intended for public distribution, regardless of how old it is, cannot be distributed here; this includes (but is not limited to) LAB and Depot, proprietary tools and system key generation software. We all realize most of it is floating around the net, but our site cannot be part of the problem.

IF YOU REQUEST SOFTWARE OF ANY TYPE IN YOUR FIRST POST, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

Also, we do not discuss LAB or Depot operations, or other proprietary tools on this website. If you are not supposed to have the software or tool, then you are not permitted to discuss it here.

IF YOU DISCUSS LAB, DEPOT OR OTHER PROPRIETARY TOOLS, YOU WILL BE BANNED.

If in doubt, please ask an Admin or Mod first.

With regard to RSS/CPS: All programming software remains the property of the manufacturer and is licensed to individuals, government and corporate bodies by the manufacturer. Therefore, we CANNOT, for legal reasons, be party to the distribution of any copyrighted software that is either currently supported or unsupported by the manufacturer.

We strive to maintain the highest quality forum possible. By agreeing to and following these few simple rules, you help us maintain that quality. Thank you for being a part of our community.

    Another rule:

If you work for the DHS in the USA, you are NOT welcome at this website in an official capacity. The server has been configured to send you somewhere else. (NSFW) This web server is NOT located in the USA and you are not welcome to access our private network. You are prohibited from doing so. Your non-compliance is a hostile action coming from a foreign government. No different than Chinese government hackers, connecting to US Government servers.

If you are a legitimate radio hobbyist/professional and you just happen to work for the hostile enemy combatant, I understand and acknowledge you're just supporting your family and putting food on the plate. No ill-will is directed at you. But you'll have to visit from a personal connection, outside of your official engagement with the US government.

    Thanks
