    Default MCS2000 Questions

Greetings, I figured I would just start a new thread since I haven't really found the exact answers searching through the others.

I am in the market for some MCS2000's, VHF and UHF.

    My first concern, band splits.
According to batlabs the model breakdown of M01K says 146-174 but alot of ebay post show 136-174, and a brochure for the model i shows the vhf version as 136-174. What is the correct split for the vhf?

    Second, head unit types.
Model I, II, and III. According to radioreference the vhf and uhf (403/512) was only offered in model I. I am seeing VHF and UHF with model II, and III heads and came across another thread on another site warning about getting a VHF/UHF with a type iii head as there is no codeplug for a model iii, at least from what I have seen searching for here.

My last big M radios were simple MT, and MTX radios with a few spectras mixed in there. Simple stuff.

Also, I know you can convert a dash mount to a remote mount, but can you go back to a dash mount like the spectras could.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    VHF is 136-174.

I can tell you for certain that VHF was offered in a Model 2 head. I wouldn't put too much stock into RR... Infact, a user manual I found on MOL implies that the Model 1 was only available on 800MHz and 900MHz - and that V/U were only Model 2 or 3.

I know for certain they offered a Model 1 and Model 2 VHF, and a Model 1 UHF R1.

Towards the end of the line for these radios, from what I remember they only offered a Model 2 VHF and Model 3 800MHz or something similar to that.

Ok, that reassures me a little better. I'll stick to looking for Model 2 radios then.

    Thanks

Here we go. I found this in another service manual which shows part numbers for Model 1, 2 and 3 for VHF, UHF, 800MHz and 900MHz. So it seems Motorola did indeed make all bands in all model options.

Thanks, that helps alot, with that I am able to narrow my search to radios in my band without having to worry about modding cps.

    Thanks
