Fail 02/90 means the DSP is failed. The DSP is likely failed because the DSP firmware is corrupt, or the wrong version.

It's possible to repair them, yes. But it requires chip removal and reflashing with appropriate binary image, or the use of software which is very special. Lab/Depot stuff will not work for this task.

The XTS5000 should be fixable by a firmware refresh. The 3000, unfortunately, isn't as easy.

How did these radios end up like this in the first place?

    Thanks for your reply.
The reason of XTS3000 F02/90 is programming the radio but the compurter break down.
XTS5000 from second-hand market and it is already F02/90.
Not I am repair those by replace VOCON(5K) and rogic board (3K),But I am interesting how to repair Fail 02/90.
BTW I have univerisity IC program(Lab tool 48 xp) & ESD removal work station.

Good to hear you are familiar with chip removal and SMD reworking.

In that case, you must remove the 32-pin TSOP on the VOCODER BOARD from the XTS3000. That board is the one under the keypad. It is NOT the L-shaped board which all flex cables attach to. That is called the CONTROLLER. It contains the Host (Radio Operating System) flash ROM and codeplug EEPROM. Ignore that board. It's likely fine.

    Read this: http://p25.ca/guide/Guide_to_ASTRO_D..._R03.00.01.pdf

Page 11 has an image of the XTS3000 vocoder board, showing where the Flash ROM is.

All XTS3000s use the "N" DSP firmware build. You may download the N08.03.05 firmware image from this post: http://www.p25.ca/threads/165-Old-AS...?p=728#post728
