Default MotoTRBO Test Programs (Windows Freeware)

    Hi guys,

I am developing Yet Another MotoTRBO Dispatcher (YAMD)

In the process - I have written several test programs which may be useful to hobbyists, amateurs or techo's.

These threads will give you a few indications:-

    http://www.austech.info/communicatio...-software.html
    http://www.austech.info/communicatio...-freeware.html
    and
    http://forum.motorola-radio-support....ic,1331.0.html
    http://forum.motorola-radio-support....ic,1655.0.html

This following is test software and I own the copyright - it is freely available from my download website http://cimconcepts.updates.net.au
    Freeware:
    XcmpXnl.zip Vn 1.0.2.3
    MTNetTester.zip Vn 1.0.1.2

The Tait software probably has no commercial value - so if you want a "Key" for it - please contact me.

    cheers

    Default Lightweight ARS Server ?

    As posted at :- http://forum.motorola-radio-support....c,1664.15.html

    Hi guys,

Just a bit of a progress report ..

JtB was spot on the money with his comments regarding ARS (and GPS). ;D

The test system I have is:-

    • A private Test channel,
    • A Remote GPS/ARS enabled remote Radio about 15~20 Km away from me
    • The remote Radio has its ARS configuration pointed at the IP of my local DM 3600
    • A local PC and a DM 3600 as the Control Station

On this test system there isn't any Motorola ARS server. I have noticed that with the current settings, about every 6 x minutes the remote radio sends out a Registration Request packet. If there is no response from an ARS server the remote Radio will retry a total of 4 x times - about 70 seconds apart. It then waits about 6 x minutes before repeating the above exercise.

Not much traffic you may say - but imagine this scenario with say 50, 100 or 200+ GPS/ARS enabled Radios behaving like this - WOW chew the bandwidth.

Thanks for pointing out that very important consideration JtB

Anyway, with that info under my belt - I now have a little MTArsWatcher.exe App that answers those incoming ARS Registration requests (plus a few other buttons to do a Query or a NAK of the Registration request).

An interesting feature is that the Registration ACK response from the PC to the Remote radio - allows a parameter that sets the "Refresh Time" i.e. the time the Remote Radio waits before it refreshes its registration with the ARS server.
    Values are:-
    Disable (0)
or between 1 and 127 periods of 30 minute slots.

    1 = 30 x minutes
    2 = 60 x minutes etc.

So for a small system that doesn't really require any external "Watcher" Apps - I could have this tiny "ARS Server" disabling the Refresh Timer - which may be a real bandwidth saver. Now that seems lightweight!

I don't think this MTArsWatcher.exe will be of any benefit to anyone - but if you're interested please let me know.

I will now be adding this small ARS server to TransTRBO and then adding GPS/Google Maps(TM) functionality.

    Thanks again JtB.

FYI: Another Aussie private Bus company has just purchased 2 x copies. 1 x for Voice recording and 1 x for Text and general Dispatcher. (Soon they'll be getting the GPS functions as a free added bonus).

    cheers

    Hi Pete,

Great to know you are alive and well!

Your post and notification has allowed me to see that the P25.ca forums are indeed working - for me they've just been timing out for several days now.

(I think my IP has been banned - but I've sent a request off to Mars asking for his assistance).

I was in the process of starting a new thread regarding a freeware Lightweight ARS test server - when BOOM the site just started timing out and giving me JAR (?) errors ...

    I'll wait and see.

    cheers

    Hi guys,

For those of you who have used MTNetTester.exe - I'll probably release Vn 1.0.1.9 in the next day or so.
It will be after I finish and test the Radio Poll List Control (Bottom LHS) - which will hold about 5~10 Radio/Subscriber ID's that will be polled.

This version will also allow you to drill-down and load GoogleMaps (TM) on the fly - if you are online to the Internet.

Once polling is initiated - individual radio Markers will appear on the map (hopefully at the correct position )- the Green marker will be the Base Station.

The Radio Poll List control box will display status/position for entered Radios.

I would appreciate people testing it and giving me bug reports etc.

    cheers

    Hi guys,

Here's another piece of semi-useful code if anyone is interested please let me know.

JP made me do it for TransTRBO but here is my test program - it allows you examine and alter your Windows Routing Table using the MOTOTRBO defined CAI.

Source IP is the PC's Network Adapter connected to the Radio.
Gateway is the Radio Gateway i.e. the Radio's IP.
CAI is the CPS defined address for the Radio Network.
Metric is (I think) the maximum number of hops between the PC and a destination Radio.

Add programmatically adds an entry to the Windows Routing Table as if the following was typed in a command line ...
route ADD [CAI].0.0.0 MASK 255.0.0.0 [GATEWAY IP] METRIC [METRIC]
Remove programmatically deletes an entry from the Windows Routing Table as if the following was typed in a command line ...
    route DELETE [CAI].0.0.0
List Dumps the Route table in the Listbox.

    cheers ;D

    Hi Guys,

Has anyone in the USA used MTNetTester.exe with an LRRP enabled Radio?

A chap in the UK has spotted a problem with the Radio returning Longitudes > 180 degrees that are then not displaying the correct Google(TM) maps.

I have updated MTNetTester - but wanted some other feedback before releasing the updated code.

The new release (Vn 1.0.2.1) will convert the Longitude to to negative if its value exceeds 180 degrees (for use with Google Maps).
    i.e.
    if longitude > 180
    longitude = 360 - longitude
This problem wasn't apparent where I live and won't be a problem for Europe and Asia - it's just a problem for places west of Greenwich.

    Your feedback would be appreciated!

    cheers

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for that - you can download MTNetTester.exe (plus other utilities) at :-
    http://cimconcepts.updates.net.au/

There is a link on the website to a Ham Radio Support Forum run by Mike NO7RF for questions and answers etc.

To test Text & LRRP you must set your windows Route Table to handle the CAI Network - you can download and run NetRoute.exe which does this easily for you.

You may also wish to grab XcmpXnl.exe which will allow you to (hopefully) control your radio from your PC.

I assume you have access to another radio that has LRRP (GPS) enabled on it ?

    cheers

Will - I'll put the pieces in place and have a go. I'm experienced with networking, and once worked in a development shop (long time ago, boring accounting software).

I do have two generation 2 radios, both XPR-7550's, probably others to come down the road.

Now I finally have a reason to enable GPS... will get this all set up this evening when the other portable returns.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for that - I need to check my Radio Lat/Long conversions to Google Maps - kaddrison from the UK spotted this problem a day or so ago.

I just need someone with a GPS Radio in the Northern hemisphere whose GPS radio are west of Greenwich.

This is something I can't do down here in Australia.

I am sure the Lat/Longs are incorrect in the USA.

    Hi guys,

FYi: I have released MTNetTester.exe Vn 1.0.2.8 which will allow you to set up the following LRRP/GPS requests from the main dialog:-

    Vn 1.0.2.8 - Released: 17 November 2013
The Map Display Dialog will allow mixed Poll and Triggered(Periodic) entries in the GPS acquisition Table.
Note: There appears to be a bug in Motorola's firmware if the first byte of any Request ID is less than 0x30 - the remote radio either ignores the Request or returns a Syntax Error response. (Use Windows calculator to convert a suitable value to/from Hexadecimal).

Additionally, the Map Display Dialog uses a Request ID of 0x6789 (26505) for any triggered requests (The Request ID is limited to 4 x bytes).
    Added new GPS/LRRP request options:-
    • Polled – ad hoc polling (existing)
    • Periodic Triggered requests (new)
    • One Shot Triggered requests (new)

The following LRRP requests are available from the drop down list – (some depend on the above 3 x selections)
    • Get Version
    • Simple Point
    • Point+Time
    • Point+Accuracy
    • Point+Accuracy+Speed
    • Point+Acc+Dir+Speed
    • 3D Point+Acc+Speed
    • 3D Point+Acc+Time+Speed
    • Stop Trigger

    Download from http://www.trbotools.com

    Cheers

P.S. I’ll now be porting these updates to TT
