Default How to tell if a radio is 700 MHz capable?

We have a 700MHz trunked P25 system here in town. The XTS-2500 seems to be the cheapest way to monitor it.

Is there any way to tell if a radio is rebanded? From everything I have read, nothing in the flashcode seems to indicate this. Is that correct? nearest thing I can make an educated hunch off of is the tracking -> original programmed info -> date. Is there a certain date where everything that went out the door was rebanded? My rule of thumb so far has been no earlier than 2007.

Second part of the question is if a flashcode update can remedy this? I would assume so.

I had a quick look through the firmware release notes (attached) and can't seem to find a reference to a specific version.

But if you go by the 2007-era marker, that would take us back to firmware R09.xx.xx. So anything newer than that should support rebanding without any problems. Current firmware is R20.00.00.

Rebanding support in the Astro25 platform was introduced in Host R07.

The model # in the XTS2500 dictates if the radio is rebanded of not. If the model # ends in a "2BN" in the codeplug the radio will not do 700 nor will it be able to do any digital features.
If the radio was flashed up to a "7BN" then it will be a standard xts2500 that will allow for 700 and all of the available flashcodes for that particular model line.

Don't go by the label as the radio can be lifted by someone with the correct flashkey.
