    Default DIU3000 consistent error code

My DIU3000 consistenly displays "error code 8" after power up.
The manual says this to be a "host comms error, call for service..."

Reading & programming the DIU works fine, I have no idea which functions could be affected by this "error 8" code.
Loading a different codeplug does not solve this issue.

Anybody having an idea about this?

    Thanks!

I guess the obvious first troubleshooting questions apply; i.e. Is it turned on? Is it plugged in? - well, question 1 is yes, apparently - but question 2 is valid - is it connected to any equipment or is it just standalone with power? I think an error on power up is normal if the unit isn't connected to a station, IIRC. Otherwise there is a battery inside, and if it's dead that could cause an error too. See this topic: https://www.p25.ca/threads/34-Motoro...00-Information

Also, I would check the manual for error code info which we have here for your convenience: https://www.p25.ca/threads/532-DIU30...nstallation%29

Question 2 is a good point - I tested the DIU standalone, no peripherals connected so far. The internal battery is new and shouldn't be a problem.
I'd like to know if anyone did the same test with a working DIU (no external equipment connected) and if error code 8 was displayed.

Thanks for the link to the manual, I will go through it.

bang Error 8 DIU issue solved

Sorted out this "error 8" issue. One interface was configured for "modem" instead of "V.21".
Since there is no modem board in my DIU I got above error code..

My guess was going to be that it might be configured for connection to an RNC and isn't seeing it. Glad to hear you got the problem sorted out.

Lesson learnt is that the DIU selftest does only internal testing and does not check for peripheral equipment.
Now in standalone operation all test passed fine.
