Anyone else having trouble with CPS 11.0 and RM v1.8?

I am having intermittent issues cloning codeplugs into radios (typically an older codeplug into a newer radio). The issue seems to manifest itself when cloning an older codeplug into a newer firmware radio. The clone appears to go ok. When you read the radio back out, all appears well. But, the radio will not key up on the radio system (conventional trbo repeater, IP Site connect, and capacity plus). I am working on reproducing the issue now with defined codeplugs, firmware levels, etc so someone can reproduce it. The only work around so far has been to read the radio, make the appropriate changes (not drag and drop) and then write that specific radio again. So far, it has been intermittent, but have spent the last few days dealing with several batches of radios that customers received that are not working. I have sent second batches of radios that are still wrong. We have flown techs on-site to read and program, which is still causing the issue. Since they have all been touched with newer CPS, I cannot go back. WTH Moto!!!! FB

Slight update........... Issue seems to be localized to SL7550 (tested XPR7550, CP200D, XPR3500, and sl7550). Intermittently, when cloning an SL7550, the radio acts like it does not receive (resulting in a channel bonk) on a repeated channel. Switch to simplex, and it works fine. Read the radio, make some changes (as yet not quantified), then program back the same radio seems to fix the issue. Happening with 2.30.13 and 2.40 SL7550 radios. Will update as I get closer to resolution. FB

Hopefully I won't get spanked for multiple posts...... If you want pain in your life, then program a SL7550 with CPS 11.0. It prevents the radio from RXing on a non-simplex channel. It is not bad programming, not corrupt codeplug, not firmware dependent (2.06 through 2.40), etc. Got a case with Moto and have a very, very large customer with just under 500 radios that my team made unusable with CPS 11 and RM 1.8. There is nothing like having your stomach ache every time the phone rings.............. FB

Only quick fix seems to be that EVERY repeater in the SL7550's codeplug must be upgraded to firmware 2.4......To re-cap so far; once Mototrbo CPS 11 touches your SL7550 codeplug, the SL7550 is no longer functional on repeaters running pre-2.4 firmware. I will report in the morning after more testing in our LAB. FB

Another slight update. After trying a ridiculous amount of firmware/software, CPS, recovery, etc options; it looks like opening an older SL7550 codeplug (2.06.03) and then cloning it into radios of all different firmware level may by the culprit. I haven't nailed down the exact combination of what causes the issue, but I have radios that are definitely not accessing the repeaters (regardless of firmware version of subscriber and infrastructure) after being cloned from this group of codeplugs. Others have opened the codeplugs and say they work fine in their newer firmware radios. Once a radio gets whatever is bad, it is done and no tools that I have access to can bring it back. FB

So.... I stirred up a hornets nest. Basically, if you have a SL7550 coming back from depot in the last 4-6 months, then you need to verify it works on a repeater before sending it back out to your customer. Simplex is fine in the unaffected AND affected radios. I have been asked to not share the specifics and we know certain entities actively monitor certain websites. FB

So far. I have had some other weirdness with CP200D showing "corrupt codeplug" but upgrading firmware clears the error code. I am not 100% confident that there is not an issue, but I have not been able to reproduce anything outside of the above posts in my LAB here.... piles of SL7550 radios with blue painters tape and a couple of stacks of repeaters on dummy loads. I should submit my application to MOTO for an unpaided software tester position. FB
