Just moved to an APX V/8 from a XTS 5K. I programmed it where some of my personalities were set to "listen only" so I could scan some talk groups but not key up on them. (Before anyone asks, I have a legit ID for the system) When I set the personality on the APX for listen only and then try to add something from that personality to a scan list I get an invalid field alert until I remove one or the other.

What am I missing here? I did this on my XTS... Surely it will work on the APX.

When you set Transmit Mode to "TG/AG Disabled" you must also change the Designated Voice TX Member for the scan list assigned to that personality to "Talkback." It makes no sense, I know, but that's what CPS forces you to do.

You should also know that checking "TG/AG Disabled" does not stop auto-affiliation. If you dial up a talkgroup in that personality it's still going to affiliate.

Still getting the same error... Going to play with it some more.

Yeah, I know its affiliating. I'm not worried about that. I just don't want to accidentally key up on those TGs.

Are you seeing it when you add to the list assigned to that personality, or another one? Is the Scan Type set to "Priority Mon" or something else?

Cross-list scanning may not be permitted, not 100% on that (haven't tried.) The scan type definitely needs to be set to Priority Mon.

I've got it set to priority, I need to try it with multi-system (though I don't plan on scanning multiple systems) and see what happens.

I think when I was still getting an error it was from something that I had deleted but it didn't clear out completely. Restarted CPS and it was good to go. :bang:

For APX radios:
Priority Monitor can only be 1 system.
To have more than one system be part of a scan list you have to select "Multi-system Talkgroup". In that case you give up Priority selection on a talkgroup/channel.
Hope this helps!
