I am trying to change the IP address of a APX7500 Consolette so that I can connect it to a MCD 5000 RGU. It currently has a 169.254.132.2 address that I can ping if I configure my laptop on the same network. How do I connect to the web interface of the consolette to change the IP address and the Remote Interface Parameters?

You connect with a USB cable to back of the consolette, the instructions should be on the cd included with the radio.

It came with APX Mobile 02,03,05,07&09 User Guide CD. Nothing on the CD talks about the consolette configuration. I have a USB printer cord that I could connect. Can you help with some instructions? IP address of web interface and port #? Default username and password? Thanks!

Ugh, ok I thought it had an installation manual. When you connect with the printer cable it will show up as a network adapter. It will assign your pc an IP address and the gateway address it assigns will be the address of the consolette. I'm not sure what the username is (possibly Motorola) but the password is the serial number of the consolette.

The Consolette may be locally configured by USB. The Consolette supports a USB or
RNDIS networking interface. Connect the Consolette to the computer using the USB
device port (the square port) on the back panel of the Consolette.
NOTE: The Consolette default address is 192.168.144.1. The setup information file
"MotorolaRadioRNDIS.inf" must be installed on the computer, in order for the computer to
recognize the Consolette. This file is also used by other Motorola radios for USB connectivity
such as the packet data applications, and it is installed on the computer when the APX Family
CPS application is installed. If Windows cannot locate a driver for the Consolette, it shall
install the APX Family CPS application.

Start a browser on the PC. Navigate to http://192.168.144.1:8801. The Consolette welcome
screen will appear.

Enter the factory default user name and password as follows:
• User Name: new-user
• Password: serial number of your Consolette with the alphanumeric characters in uppercase
(ex. 123ABC4567)

Assigning a new IP address is not necessary as long as the Consolette is not used on a Local Area
Network (LAN). However, if the Consolette is to be connected to a network, the Consolette’s network
addresses should be configured at this time.
From the Networks Parameters Page (Figure 3-7.) , set the Consolette IP Address field to the
address assigned for the Consolette. Set the IP Netmask and Gateway IP Address fields
appropriately for the network.
It should not be necessary to change the RNDIS Default Address unless some other device must be
connected to the PC which conflicts with the default address.
Click Store to transfer the new settings to the Consolette

Thank you for all your help and great information. I was able to get the MCD5000 RGU and Deskset configured and it is working. One last question. How many APX7500 consolettes can be connected to one RGU via IP?

I had to upgrade the firmware of the APX7500 in order for the IP deskset option to appear in the Remote Interface Parameters. I connected to the front mic jack in order to upgrade the firmware just like you would do with any other mobile radio. Older versions of firmware did not support it.
