Just wanted to share my repair experience with BK.

I sent in a KNG 2 P800 with a blown speaker and a bad scan switch.

On 8/10 I shipped the radio

8/16 radio delivered to BK in Florida

8/30 called BK for an update since I didn’t hear anything. They said they were backed up and it would be another two weeks.

09/14 Called BK again for an update. They said they were still backed up with CALFIRE priorities and the USFS had a large order of BKR5000s that were being built. Another two weeks they said.

Today 09/24 package was on my porch from BK. Shipped VIA UPS on 09/22. Radio came back with a brand new gen 2 housing with the larger orange button and bump. The scan switch was repaired by the new housing as well. They also upgraded the firmware and ran it thru alignment.

Overall I would give them a 4/5 with the only concern is I got zero communication from them. They didn’t even email me that the radio was being shipped back.

So with a small team of 30 people doing repairs and manufacturing and on hell of a fire season a little over a month isn’t too terrible I would say.

How has your experience been with them?

It's been a while since I've sent anything to them directly. The few times I have though I would agree on the lack of communication, but they do always go above & beyond on the service. I had one that had just a scratched housing and not even why I sent it in, but they replaced it anyways. They always seem to perform an alignment and firmware update, and each time I wanna say it was delivered back to me in less than 2-3 weeks.

only problem is they sent a UHF unit out

Ouch. I feel Like if this ever happened with BK they would fix it overnight.
