I know the XPR6500 was not popular, but we just acquired a customer with a few hundred in their fleet. The issue is that we are having is radios come back from the Depot with very new firmware, but the majority of their fleet is much older firmware. Of course we are seeing weird issues and even updating the repeater did not resolve much. So, we sat down to update their radios during their holiday downtime, and what do you know......... cannot do it with newer CPS ("no matching packages exist" or similar). Going back to 10.7 and earlier is on my list, but come on Moto! FB

I appreciate that, but the 6500's have 1.08 or 1.09, I should be able to get them to 1.12.13....=.FB

Silly questin, but are you sure you executed the firmware extract package for that radio. I have have issues where I thougt I had after going through a CPS upgrade, but when I ran it a second time all of a sudden I could update the radio that had been telling me no matching packages. NOt sure if it did not execute the first time, or if I had managed to run the wrong one.

Might also Right click the firmware package and exeute as Admin..

I had issues with 6500s that were 1.02 and 1.03, mainly because they did not like the B cable or anything post 5.0 CPS, but I have upgraded a LOT of customers with 10.8 who were in your FW range. Good suggestion to reinstall the update package and not just a repair.

Uninstalled FW update package on several computers, reinstalled FW and CPS, going back to 10.5. No joy. I did confirm with Moto that their regression testing with firmware is 4 or 5 basic radio functions up to 2 Firmware revision behind current. While I think this is a very limited way to test possible issues, I see their point with trying to test all possible mixes of different versions of firmware/software/hardware. I wonder if my application for unpaid software tester has made any progress inside the big M? FB

Did you get this resolved. I can probably help you here.

You will need to use CPS 10.5 to get the radios to R01.12.11 then use CPS 10.7 to go to R01.12.13. Depending on what version they are at now, you may have to do interim steps in firmware to get up to R01.12.11 and you should be able to do this with CPS 10.5 even if they are as old as R01.04.XX, then you HAVE to use at least CPS 10.7 to go to the last Gen 1 firmware step of R01.12.13. You will have to uninstall your latest CPS and install CPS 10.5 to do most of the work, or use two PCs.

By the way, you will cross a firmware transition that will alter wideband analog and change the 25Khz WFM channels in it and revert them to 12.5Khz NFM. The radio will look like it fails the upgrade at times and gets only to 80 something percent or so, then it will reboot and come back up and be ok. Thats what is happening when it does this. Then when you read it back it gives you a message that it has to make changes in in the codeplug, and it reboots again and you have to read it again.

Hope this helps you out!

Not that you need it, but I second Jutod's information. I had to do 3 of these and this was the only way I could get it done. I didn't realize I was the only one it happened to otherwise I would have chimed in earlier.
