I've got a program I built for a XPR 5550 with the Text-to-Speach feature enabled. I tried to clone that program to another XPR 5550 without that entitlement. Even with the Text-to-Speech turned off, it gives me an error and won't let me do that. Is there a way to accomplish cloning from a radio with more features to one with less?

Copy and paste or drag and drop will likely be your best bet for overcoming feature mismatches. That should work even if your working with completely different TRBO models (i.e. going from a 6550 to a 7550).

And do your c&p with two codeplugs open in the same session of cps, rather than two sessions of cps open. The scratchpad resides in the cps, not in Windows.

True. I've not been able to open two separate instances of TRBO CPS though. I can with many other packages but I might be missing something.

You can open 2 copies if you have 2 complete versions installed in separate folders. Then the CPS thinks its all by its self. You still will not be able to do the drag and drop though because the info as Bill_G said is in the cps memory and not in the windows scratch pad.

You can also start two instances of CPS (or any program) by:
- Starting the first instance normally.
- Then hold the "shift" key down while starting the second.

To clarify what two people above said though, you MUST open BOTH codeplugs in the same instance of CPS and work with them side by side. DUAL monitors are great for this. Drag your CPS window open wide enough to give you the space you need. Click and drag the features you want from one codeplug to the other.

Dual monitors would be nice but I find myself doing most of my programming in the field with a laptop!

it would be nice if moto were to fix the drag and drop issue but that isnt going to happen. The reason you cant use the windows scratchpad is because the 'text' is slightly modified in the cps. When when its moved out of the cps enviorment the 'slot addressing' info is not transfered with the data. When you go to plce it back into the CPS the data nolonger conforms to where your trying to put it.

The bitch of it is that you can't drag and crop RX Group Lists, Scan Lists and things like that. So you can drag over all your contacts, but then you need to recreate your group lists. Then if you drag over your channels and zones, the group lists should get assigned properly (assuming they are spelled exactly the same).
