I'm disappointed to hear about this regarding CPS R13. I have an entitlement key, but I'm terrified to use it.

I wipe & re-image my desktop at least twice a year. I've been told by one person that the key would still work even after an OS & CPS re-install by the MAC address of my machine.

Can any of you guys clarify how it actually works?

I requested an entitlement key from Motorola Online a few days ago, received it and applied it successfully. The hardest part was getting MOL to add access to the product in my MOL account.

Here's a quick how-to:

1. Complete the narrowbanding course if you haven't already
2. Call Motorola and ask them to add the items to your account as you've completed the course
3. Order the narrowbanding entitlement key item with however many activations you want (it's free so you can put a big number)
4. You'll get an email with the entitlement key that you can use in your CPS. The number of uses of that key will be whatever number you entered in the previous step.

I was very close to trying to move a 5350 to a 5550 and using the HHCH. Apparently it doesn't work that way. At least I saw this prior to the attempt.

So if you have a digit display radio, could you turn it into a 5550 without nuking it?

What?

A 4550 and a 5550 are completely different radios internally. A two digit display radio is completely different from a full display radio. You can't change apples to oranges, but you CAN susbstitute Granny Smith's for Macintosh if you get my drift.

I'm not talking about a 4000 series radio to a 5000 series.

What I was looking for is if you have a 5350 and want to make it into a 5550 is that possible. I would assume that a 5350 and 55550 have different tanapa #'s. So is it possible to force a 5550 f/w into a 5350 chassis and change the head? Would you force a 5550 tanapa # into the 5350 chassis? What would happen. I'm asking as I don't know and haven't tried it yet. Thx, rob

Tanapa does not match between 5350 and 5550.

5350: PMUE3645AA
5550: PMUE3649AA

I moved on as I like having 2 functional radios. I think this ends the 5350/5550 argument.

In this case, the Tanapa difference only indicates a different configuration. It's safe to upgrade with "stuff".

The discussion in posts #22 through #25 has strayed pretty far from 25 kHz functionality, so the original discussion appears to have run it course. Thread closed.
