I have an XTL5000 with a W5 head. Its running firmware R05.01.00 and was last programmed in September 2005.
In order to avoid any "old firmware" issues, I used an old version of CPS R05.00.00 which worked OK and I was able to reprogram the radio.
However, the XTL5000 initially required the "red" ignition sense wire to be connected to +12v in order for the radio to boot up. I understood that its possible to disable the ignition sense so that you don't need to connect the red wire to +12v.
The ignition sense setting is "Blank". With later CPS versions, I think that "Blank" means that you don't need the red wire. With R05 CPS, the Help Pages says "Blank" enables you to still TX when the ignition has been turned off....which sort of suggests that you still need the ignition sense connected when you first boot up??
So, using early R05 firmware and R05 CPS, is it possible to set up an XTL5000 so you don't need the red wire connected to +12v?
Thanks
