Fake tags on Panter88 radios?

I'm assuming you have Tuner if you have CPS - try adjusting the softpots to see if the radio reacts. My first Panter88 radio did not, the replacement did just fine.

Yes, I can change the softpots with no issue. Although I don't know enough about tuner to go in and change the values. I will keep them where they are until I learn more.

OK So I bought a Panter88 XTS2500i and it programs and tunes fine, BUT something I thought was weird was that the ink on one of the back tags comes off if you scratch at it with your fingernail. Now I am pretty sure this isn't supposed to happen but it doesn't really phase me because I am using the radio for HAM use/monitoring local police and fire channels. What does everyone think of that??

you get what you pay for.
most likely a fake tag.

as you aren't using the radio in a life safety application, it's not a big deal. Hopefully you did not overpay, legit, vetted XTS radios from US sellers with verified reputations sell for what Panter peddles questionable history radios for.

that said, should you choose to ever sell your radio, please be HONEST and disclose it's origin. You never know who is buying it and for what purpose. Sure, the onus to make sure it is "fit for duty" is on the buyer, but not everyone is that prudent.

I've bought 2 UHF and 2 VHF XTS2500 "BN" from Lao and all radios worked great for ham and monitoring. But I definitely wouldn't use them in public safety. Once in a while I had the display dim, but I know that could have been fixed.
