Tried to write a new string I received to delete the wideband block, RM took it ok without complaining of checksum or anything, but it won't take in the radio. When I go to Main Menu|Utilities|Feature Info it still has the old string. This is a CH100 radio programmed via front USB. I do see the display change to 'Radio Feature Install' but after it resets it's still the same. I get a failed message in the dialog that pops up in RM. I followed the procedure as outlined in the maintenance manual so I'm at a loss.

Are you using Radio Maint to change the feature string? (Best way to do it.)

Of course, hence the use of ‘RM’ twice in my post and saying I did it per the maintenance manual. Is there even any other way?

Wasn't sure what you meant with "RM." And yes, you can edit it via hyperterm / putty if you know the commands to do so.

I have found serial direct to the radio (DB9) works best, even with CH100.

OK, didn't know that was an option given it wasn't mentioned in the maintenance manual. Is there a comprehensive terminal command list anywhere I can study?

I had to go grab a serial capable laptop and get RPM installed on it but I was able to get it to take. I had to use the Unity CH-721 tab in RM vs the CH-100 tab so it would try via serial instead of USB. I now have no more wideband restriction and Single Key AES/DES features!

I've often noticed this behavior where the feature ugprade will not work via CH100 USB but will load correctly via rear serial CH721 tab.
