Flashcode cramming

I'm trying to find a method to cram a new flashcode into my XTL5000 (have someone I can turn to, to get it done but rather learn how to do it myself as usual) to install some new features (ADP which by what I gather from what I've seen is simple software encryption and some more).

I've done some goggling and come up dry. I thought (hoped) that perhaps the Depot tool may have had a nice lazy method but no luck it seems (still looking at that before I play too much.

Does anyone know of any documents on the web explaining the process to enhance our radios in such a manner?

Thanks.

You would need to purchase the upgrade, or use the depot tool which we do not discuss here.

Features are sold by Motorola. They will assist you with anything you want to buy.

Thanks 6, yeah I know there is no speaking about depot thus why I hoped someone had compiled something offsite :).

As for purchasing features, if only my wallet was that fat. If it was I wouldn't bother mucking with it. Still, defeats the purpose of learning if you can just "buy" everything. What's radio if we just pay some fat cat to do everything for us? What an attitude.

Do you understand what you are saying? Depot represents a revenue loss for Motorola which is why it is not discussed here. Any sort of "something" else compiled offsite (whatever that means) that does essentially the same thing as Depot would also represent a revenue loss for Motorola. Explain how that would be allowed here..?

If you know there is no speaking about it.. why mention it in your original post. Either you don't care to follow the rules around here or your not a smart man... which one is it?

Just so that there is no misunderstanding, we don't talk about it via PMs either. Any discussion should be offsite.

If by "we" you don't include com501, then I concur

Beyond that, the archive does not lie

PMs are private and we don't read them, so we wouldn't know what is being discussed privately. That doesn't mean there isn't an archive that can be accessed, so we don't want PMs to be used for nefarious discussions.

To be very clear, WE DO NOT READ ANYONE ELSE'S PM'S here. They are private, and are treated as such. However, as Number 6 said, they are necessarily kept in a central database for the board's internal use. If there were any major legal issues to crop up, they could be accessed, but that would only happen with a court order.

6, I thought it was more of a "we don't want the wraith of Moto so we don't allow discussion of use" thing, thus why I was hoping for a breadcrumb to not have to ask how and why it works :).

apco25, take a long walk off a short plank, you're a rude prick and nothing short of it! There can be varying levels of what is accepted due to the reason it is not accepted. There is NEVER any reason for your personal insults!

EDIT: should mention I didn't think folks were so touchy about breadcrumbs so will leave it at that... like I said if I had the money to get Moto to do everything I wouldn't have asked and since I don't have the money, Moto are not loosing anyway on my case.

The name-calling stops now. That applies to everyone involved in this thread.

I think in order to make sure the name calling stops, I'm putting the lock on this thread, based on the past.

Tsunami - there are no breadcrumbs to be had. Period. It's that simple. Nothing personal.

Move on, nothing else to see here.
