Harris Dual Band Mobile - M7x00 Series?

Is the Harris M7300 a true dual band, or is it like the old M7100 and you have to use two decks and one control head?

I want a dual band radio (VHF/UHF), but it has to do digital P25 trunking, P25 conventional, and AES/DES. I know the new XG-100M will do it, but costs way too much for me.

In the context that you're asking, no, the 7300 platform is not a dual band. In fact, the 7300 series does not even support two decks controlled by one head, and probably wont ever, with the flagship being the Unity XG series. Based on what you want, you're stuck with the 7100 platform. You have a tough road ahead, in finding both radios with your desired features enabled and finding suitable software to program it.

Oh well. I had a VHF M7100 that had everything I wanted (FPP & P25 conventional), but sold it because I liked my Astro Spectra better. I guess I'll just deal with having seperate Motorola radios.

The Unity is not that bad priced and it is an all band radio. 136 to 897mhz all bands covered with all options. The radio rocks. The Phase 2 works well and the display is better than the APX. Well worth a look. I bought one off Ebay a couple months ago for $2700.00. I have seen a few portables ranging between $2200 to $4400.
