Hello I'm new in the world of radio communications and need help with this problem. Urgent...

I have an Astro XTL 5000 Consolette (VHF) with Control Head W7. After I read the device it seem to be configured with an O5 Control Head, because the buttons on the CH don't perform the functions they supposed to do.

Tried to change the CH in the CPS but it doesn't allow me to do that. Read somethig about that I need a file (codeplug) in order to load the configuration for the W7 CH. That´s why I am asking for the codeplug.

I apologize for my english ando for lack of experience. i hope you could help me with this problem, i really need it.

If you have the wrong head on the radio it will give you an fl01-90 I believe. On an xtl5000 you can change head type in cps.

A true consolette radio will only allow a w7/w9 configuration. Sounds like the incorrect drawer unit is in the consolette but even then a normal 50 watt brick allows for any W or O series head by a simple menu selection in the CPS. Would like to see a screen shot of the control head change not being allowed.

I'm using the Astro 25 Mobile CPS R20.01.00.

I'll take the screen shot tomorrow and i will post it here to see if you can help me. I thought that it was easy to do this because the Help Guide says that in the "Tools" menu of the CPS there's an option callled "Change Control Head", but after clicking OK, the error message appears. The consolette is not new and I guess it was rebuilt with several and different parts, so, probably the problem is the unit, it is incorrect, just like you said

Thanks in advance

The W7/W9 head will power up with 'Wrong CH' or some such abbreviated error, just like the LCD display heads if you put the M5 head on an O5 radio. It should NOT give you a Fail 01/90. Someone may have put a standard mobile in there instead of an L series, which could account for the O5 head selection. Still if the TIB is correct the head selection should be available in the software to configure it for the W5/W7/W9 consolette option.

If the model number begins with L, you will not be able to change the control head with CPS.
