Help with XPR6580 for conversion

Greeting all,

I recently purchased an XPR 6580 to convert to ham usage (analog and DMR). It is a H55UCH9LB1AN with a Tanapa number PMUF1410AD. It is a Connect Plus radio (sticker under the battery) that was converted to 3600 trunking. It is presently at FW R011024.

I have found the threads that explain in great detail how to convert from 3600 trunking to DMR, etc, but those files require a start of FW R011023 or earlier - this radio is already beyond that. I am using CPS 11.5 and it won't let me "upgrade" to an older FW, or "convert" to the DMR FW.

I think I need to downgrade the FW. Is that something I can do - or do I have to send it somewhere?

You should be able to "downgrade" to conventional with what you have. Once there, I would upgrade to the newest FW, & then you can use this 902/927 hack. Your radio will now do 902/927 once you remove 3600 trunking. To upgrade to Trbo requires a $75 upgrade [flash] from Moto. GARY

The currently available device migration package on MOL is for 9600 01.10.24, and will convert to TRBO 01.12.15.

MOL -> Resource Center -> Software -> MOTOTRBO -> Conventional - Firmware -> Device Conversion Packages 3600 Baud Trunking to MOTOTRBO Digital Firmware.

There's a big red warning on that page: Warning: These firmware packages will Convert an 800/900MHz Smartnet Privacy Plus Analog Trunking radio to MOTOTRBO Digital Conventional firmware (defaulting to Analog only features). Use HKLN4429A - Analog to Digital Upgrade software license, to Activate the Digital features after the Conversion.

Also note that you don't need to buy this EID if you only plan on running analog
