Hytera Firmware/CPS problem

Hi all,

My first post to this forum, and a brand new owner of Hytera X1p product :)

When I received the radio it was on Firmware V5.
I downloaded the DMR_SW_UPGRADEKIT_SUBSCRIBE_TO_V6.01.05.006 and installed it.

Upgrade went successful, but I lost English menu´s within the radio!
Seems like I am missing the EnglishLanguage.bin file within the SW Upgrade kit.

When I re-open the Upgrader, and press Menu-Language, I dont see English as an option.

Can anyone please assist me in getting back English language on the X1p ?

Thanx for any assistance :)

Hi again, I do have a follow up question;

Is the DMR_SW_UPGRADEKIT_SUBSCRIBE_TO_V6.01.05.006 dependant on region?
Or is it multi-region upgrade kit (meaning working for all reagions AS, EM, SA and NA2)?

There are 2 different firmware for Hytera radios. North America & EMEA (Europe/Middle-East/Asia).
You need the NA version. English language is standard for that package.

Hi there :)

Great news, didnt know that. So as a follow question, is there a public url available for downloading the NA version, and how do I see the difference?
My radio is AS version.

Also, after updating, my CPS 6.1.1.6.AS8 says "CPS Area dosn´t match"

Hope to get a solution to this issue...

Thanx

I upgrade my station PD782G programDMR_SW_UPGRADEKIT_SUBSCRIBE_TO_V6.01.05.006
English and stayed there.
DMR_SW_UPGRADEKIT_SUBSCRIBE should be one for all regions.

Hmmm...
Downloading now.

Why should I go from English to Simplified Chinese then?
Also, I have the CPS 6.1.1.6.AS8 (I assume this version should work on the FW 6.1.5.6 but it cant connect to the radio any more (get the CPS Area don´t match), but the radio works as expected (but I don´t understand squad of the menu´s).

If I check within the Updater folder, there is a file within called set.ini and inside there is a section for External files, and a reference to Farsi, Thai ++ AND EnglishLanguage.bin. All files are there, except the EnglishLanguage.bin

Is it possible I have bricked the radio somehow, have in mind it works perfectly for transmitting and receiving...

UPDATE: I did the update, but still in Chinese. I did see in the dialog during upgrade it said "Writing English language file"
What setting (number) under Settings is the Language choice on your radio (as we now are running the same FW version)?
Then I can try to goto the same Menu number in settings and set the language...

Thank you all for the help so far, hopefully understanding my frustration for not selecting Simplified Chinese back at school ;)

Hi,
The Hytera radio upgrade packages support all the regions as defined by Hytera, just one upgrade pack.
All upgrades install STANDARD the simple Chinese and English language, this is why you don't find an English language file in the upgrade package.
For each region you need the appropriate CPS, you mentioned the upgrade of your PD782 (this is a USA model), your X1p is not supported by your AS region CPS. To my interpretation you mixed region in the radio's and / or the CPS.
The best way is to bring the radio's to the same region (for this you need some additional skills) and use that CPS.
Otherwise you need to install two region related CPS versions (also for this you need some extra skills);)
Good conversion....

Hi Mocom30,

Thank you so much for your reply :) I will clarify a bit.

- I do have several PD788G (Asian models) and using .AS8 CPS for these. They are working great,
- I purchased two X1p´s, both are listed as Asian models (from the dealer). They was delivered with FW V5.05 but .SA6 (?) CPS. SA is South & Latin America?
--- Either the dealer is wrong about the supplied X1p or they sent me the wrong CPS with the radio. I am awaiting feedback on this.
Q: Is there a way I can identify the region of the radio? Either by hardware or software?

- I didn´t install the supplied CPS, and took the first radio (with FW V5 and english language on menu´s) and ran the V6.1.5.6 software updater.
- The radio then was in Chinese. We have now checked each meny under Settings and there is no choice in Chinese to select Language.
- I have tried to downgrade FW. No luck.
- I have tried to tweak the set.ini to allow downgrade as it has a choice for Burning Older Version, without luck so far

- For CPS, I have tried the .AS8 for my X1p´s, gives me wrong CPS region.
- I have downloaded latest CPS for each region, they ALL give me wrong CPS region ???
--- The only CPS not tried is for China as .AS8 is Asia except China).
--- I´ve learned how to tweak the installed CPS to change the region of the CPS, and know the region code for Asia, EMEA, NA2 and SA.

So right now I am stuck with a X1p which I can not understand the menu´s, can not connect to any CPS region.

You say I can tweak the region of the X1p? Can you point me in the right direction? I am quite skilled, I just need to find the article/example. Google is tired of all my queries :)

Last night I was tired and sad as it seems I´ve bricked my unit, but after your article, I am positive again to solve this.
Hope to hear something from you soon :)

Hi,

I've got a question about how to install multiple Hytera CPS versions or CPS region version on one PC.
There are two ways; the official and the easy piecie one.
* The official way is in the attached app note -->> View attachment WF_Mendinstall Instructions.pdf
** The easy piecie way; install CPS no.1, including the USB driver, copy (not rename!!) the complete CPS map to an other one and create a desktop icon for this one. Install the second CPS (new version or region), follow the messages during the installation (removing the original previous CPS). After installation of the second CPS, you're able to use two CPS programs. The USB driver is not part of the CPS installation map, so don't worry as long it's the supported version.
Great stuff all those Hytera (I'm not financially involved with Hytera or TRBO but I'm always willing to accept DMR donations of every brand :drunk: )))))

Cheers

Q: Is there a way I can identify the region of the radio? Either by hardware or software?

Compare the label on the radio wit the attached PDF info, third digit in your radio model.
Software; try (learn) this with your PD78x radio before with the X1p (I'm not the owner of that model, but I expect its the same), push the following buttons in speed: MenuButton/GreenButton/BackButton/SelectButton/GreenButton/BackButton/
You're in the service menu, push the BackButton, goto menu no3 and see the programmed radio model.

- The radio then was in Chinese. We have now checked each menu under Settings and there is no choice in Chinese to select Language.

So far I've been informed ALL of the radio's for the different regions support at least the English language, if you're not able to select the language within the radio menu (this can be disabled in the menu configuration trough the CPS) you can select the language within the CPS. By the procedure above, you know your need for the correct CPS.

- I have tried to downgrade FW. No luck.

No need for downgrading, the difference between the previous and current version is the bugs in the previous are known, in the latest they are unknown or at least you're not familiar with them

- For CPS, I have tried the .AS8 for my X1p´s, gives me wrong CPS region.
- I have downloaded latest CPS for each region, they ALL give me wrong CPS region ???

I don't understand your question marks, my reaction to this is all depends of the region of your radio this is number one to be answered, trying to use the region 0 (China) is useless as you mentioned the lack of time to learn Chinese (same to me).

You say I can tweak the region of the X1p? Can you point me in the right direction? I am quite skilled, I just need to find the article/example. Google is tired of all my queries :)

I keep my statement as I made in my PM. But if you're able to tweak the CPS, I'm sure you're able to find the way to it. For the rest of this forum, I'm not in a position to spread this info, sorry for all those who are interested.

Cheers

MenuButton/GreenButton/BackButton/SelectButton/GreenButton/BackButton/

Done, but correct order for X1p is: Green/Back/Menu/Green/Back/Menu
Missing the attachment for crossreference
Menu 3 says: X1p00-000G0000-MB0000-U1-0-B

I´ll give it a go :) But as I said previously, I have tried CPS with all regions (2, 5, 7, 8). Is there another region I could test?

If I knew the Chinese region for CPS, and that would work for the radio, I could enable Language selection :) Do you happen to know the language (area0) code for China ?

Thanx :)

It seems to be your radio is a Chinese radio (Region 0), so far I never seen for these radio's a CPS in the open or in the twilight zone. I presume there are strict export rules for this CPS version and radio. If so, I must withdraw my previous statement about all regions will support also the English language. If the Chinese radio is restricted to China only, there is no need for an English language (most of the people over there don't speak English ) like the radio's for all other regions.

For now you have two options; the first, trow back the radio's to your supplier, he sold you something that was not agreed or according the offer. He sold probably an illegal radio with export restrictions. The second option is to find YOUR way to convert the radio to an region of your choice. I'll give one point to think about; read carefully the upgrade manual especially when the upgrade is not complete.

Cheers

Hi Mocom30,

If I should figure it out (but I struggle), the X1p00-, will it then be X1p05- permanent, also for future upgrades?

I know I ask a lot, but a small additional hint could be nice; I'm really stuck now.
But, as I got the 6.1.6.11.CHS, I can at least talk to the radio (with Chinese text within the CPS) duuuhhhh...
