Does anyone currently have a Hytera Tier 3 system running? Better yet, does anyone currently have Hytera subscibers affiliated on a Tier 3 system?

Tried on Tait DMR Tier III Express... Don't play well together. Tait support blames Hytera and Hytera support, if you can call them that, blames Tait. :( Biggest issue was calls wouldn't always go through, volume was always off, and could never get the Hytera to operate in Transmission Trunking only in Message or really short call times which simulated Transmission but the shorter the call timer the greater the system instability.

Forgot, I set the system up in MPT-1343 and Hytera did everything in MPT-1327. So I had to constantly convert everything. Got pretty good at doing it in my head.

Okay. I'm assuming the Tait system works with Tait subscribers?

I'm asking as from what I've been able to find, Hytera doesn't seem to currently have any Tier III systems in play here in the US. It's hard to get opinions on Hytera Tier III subscribers as there really isn't anything other than Capacity Plus in the area when it comes to trunked DMR. I've been working with a shop whom is currently testing a Simoco Xd Tier III system (4 site, 3 trunks per site) prior to install and phase in (thinking install in the next month, phase the client in sometime in June. We've gotten the Simoco portables and mobiles working (flawlessly) in the shop. The Hytera mobile the shop is wanting to test with is a whole different story. Took some time getting the Tier III license and now they are having issues translating Simoco programming to Hytera. The shop is also a Tait dealer (which they haven't tested with yet) but my understanding is that they were really hoping to get the Hytera's rolling. Anyway, thanks for the info...the support from Hytera seems to be lacking from my POV as well but we'll see if they can get it figured out.

Tait subscribers work amazing. The TP9300 portables are honestly some of my favorite portables to use. Problem is end users don't like the price tag (especially the overpriced Otto accessories), which is why if Hytera worked on the DMR Tier III better it would be a serious match made in radio heaven. I really like the Tait infrastructure products. Sounds like a lot of what I went though trying to get Hytera to work on the Tait infrastructure. There are a few, last I heard, Hytera DMR Tier III Systems out there. Hytera really wasn't very supportive with Tier III and the help I did get took forever and I had to fight for it. I really think they are putting their eggs in the XPT basket. As for Simoco, my ex-Hytera MR just picked them up (IIRC). He's supposed to be coming and doing a demo of products after IWCE sometime. I hate to say it but the project that we wanted to be DMR and demoed and speced DMR we put in NEXEDGE Type-C because we had portable/mobile options and Kenwood would give me support. I didn't have to play with 2 manufactures and then fill in the gaps myself. Customer Happy, I'm happy, wish the DMR would have worked. But there are some major holes in Tait and Hytera catalogs.

Some friends and I are taking a Simoco repeater to IWCE for personal use. They'll most likely be carrying their Tecnet portables and I may carry my XPR6550…but I'll also have a SDP660 with me as well. I know Simoco will have a Tier III system up and running at the show…

Rub it in... I'm not going to IWCE this year. :( Thought getting married was more important.

There are two Tait DMR tier3 systems running locally both with Hytera and Tait radios and from what I have heard no issues so far.

Local tait support was willing to deploy hytera generally because tait up til recently did not have a ATEX radio in there fleet and it worked.

What issues are you experiencing with tait/hytera? I'm aware of one which is tait centric around radio number scheme they support which no other maker had developed firmware for at the time.

Nothing with tait currently (hopping the shop will actually test one). Currently the issue is with just getting the Hytera on the system.
