Interesting find inside XTL5000 W7

I picked up an 700/800MHz XTL5000 W7, at a flea market a while back and haven't done anything with it in a while. It reads/writes no problem, but won't take a FW upgrade. Just for s**t and giggles I opened it up and found this:

Yep. When I put it into service mode 4 meg came up on the display.

Now that is odd. I thought they were all 8 meg. It doesn't have the memory to take anything above ver 9 then

Any idea why that blue jumper wire could be is in there?

Bypassing a faulty maybe? Weird and interesting.
