A friend of mine sent his 4 xtl 5000 radios into a couple different fleabay sites overtime the past 3 months. He asked me to help him figure out why one came back with a fail on power up. This one the seller he said refunded but said it needs to go to mexirola. I noticed today the print out sheet they came with said source: (the tool) with no ibutton number and a notarized letter of authenticity of a update no matching tags lol. I was thinking it can't be as the ones who did his were supposed localized comm small businesses in mid and west usa. I checked his radios and sure enough no ibutton number or info just "the unspoken" listed in program. I told him he needs to go to a pro since he uses 2 of them for mission critical. Told him his $$$ got ripped off basically per say. Kind of risk to those doing this for liability on that flea site. I can't believe those people are actually doing charging for those firmware and flash updates using that. I don't want to make the admin mad just wanted to give a FYI to those and reccomend going to the real professionals people who do it right namely some here who are legit that offer updates. Please check before doing upgrades. I don't want people discussing the unspoken deals on this post just a warning and heads up its popping up on flea bay. I'd hate to see a good radio go down on cheap ways. If mods feel this FYI is not appropriate just let me know and remove thread not wanting to step on any toes.
