On the RR forum some says Kenwood will be joining the DMR game in the north american market soon. On another post a US dealer said to wait in march. I don't really trust information coming from RR so anyone here knows something about these rumors?

It is accurate. Looks to be only low end tier 2 products. Portables are 16 or 32 channel, with out a display, and the mobiles appear to be 2 digit, 7 segment display.

Kenwood has added a DMR Tier 2 repeater to their US portforlio. They may feel that their Type-C NXDN (dPMR) is their high tier digital trunking offering due to its auperior audio and range, and moving away from Type-D NXDN as their low end digital offering. DMR Tier 2 may become their entry level digital trunking offering, therefore the current DMR equipment is considerwd entry level.
