KNG P400 Firmware

Trying to update a BK KNG-P400 so this it will work on the 5.5.0 software how ever I can not get any of the firmware located on the BK site to work. I have made sure the unit is in updating mode (blue light) and have had no success.

Has anyone had any success ?

5.5.0 wont write a file to the unit and I don't have the older software

Download the latest firmware and it should include the latest lightning light. Run that and it should burn it. Make sure you actually have a KNG-P400 and not a P400S

Yeah, I just did this earlier in the week to get mine from ebay going. You should be able to download any of those firmware files with the simple info form on the downloads page. Installed LightningLight like Gtaman says, make sure the radio is in the flash mode with the blinking blue light. Took about 30 seconds.

Thanks. I did try the firmware and could not get it to write. I did have it in firmware mode with the blue light flashing. Will try again in the morning

Here's a screenshot of how I had mine set up. I don't have the radio connected, so the start button is greyed out. Silly question but do you have the wrong build selected in the left box? Mine is a P400 as well. Portable-G2 is for the KNG2 series that just came out not too long ago.

I was able to get it to work with no issues on the old programming laptop (windows 7) thanks

only because I am testing this for my agency. 5.5.0.p FW must use 5.5.9RES. this is direct from BK Tech. So far from what I have found is it is a bunch of fixes. we tried 5.5.0m and had issues. 5.5.9 RES does seem to have several change although I haven't been through them. I updated the FW on a few portables read and reflashed with new RES

Interesting. I've been using 5.5.8 with 5.5.0p firmware and haven't had any problems. Will download and install 5.5.9 and check it out.

I use software 5.8.9 no issue so far besides the bugs with writing GPS parameters.
