Add XPR 7000 series portables and XPR 5000 mobiles getting into some "e" series makeover. I thought they would hold off for CPE/IWCE before the announcement.

Gotta come up with something new I guess?

The "E" suffix is indicative of "experimental" hardware/firmware. I'm willing to bet they will have trouble working on analog simplex frequencies, given the other recent firmware issues as of late.

arrh shocks and here I can thinking it was there new 'exceptional' model where everything worked!

First bug for this platform could be to stun these radios with a malformed ping packet from a windows 10 host!

Was my understanding, is there an announcement letter, or just the ability to select the model in the ordering process ?

??

No official announcement for the "enhancement", Mother rarely does that these days, probably fired the PR person who handled that task.

Also, The SL7000 Series is also getting the "e" series love as well.

Yes, we've known about the high tier radios getting wifi for some time now. A link was posted to the FCC type acceptance applications. But those ones are not yet orderable

So selecting "China" removes all regulatory requirements.:D And allows the radio to enter Baofeng compatibility mode.
